And with the stories I've read thru the years about JMM being pathetic at managing his money, he will rue the day he retired before picking up that 10 mil from Pac/JMM 5. This has nothing to do with anything besides taking care of himself and his family as he gets old. If he fights Bradley and retires, he will be flat broke in 10 years. Not that he wouldn't be that, even after fighting Pac 5, but the odds are a he!!uva lot less.
Marquez and his children and his grandchildren are set for life, he isn't Pacquiao or Mayweather who can easily be bankrupt still in their life-time. Moreover everyone (Probably not Pac fans) are already bored to death with a JMM-Pacman fight, the ending was the well placed right hand in Pac face. The end no need for a rematch anymore, now JMM also need to retire as he isn't going to get Bradley in the ring.

This isn't true, Pac-JMM 5 would do bigger numbers than any other TR match-up.

So it was a coin-toss where two judges ruled "the 100% defensive, jabbing guy wins" whereas one judge ruled "the offensive power-punching, more effective guy wins".

A TIE would have been the fairest decision, but still, Bradley would have kept the belt. Marquez just didn't do enough, but there was no "clinic" whatsoever.

OTOH Marquez is such an IDIOT, instead of begging Bradley for a rematch, he should challenge CARLOS MOLINA for the super welterweight title he has, that's quite an easy fight for Marquez and he can win the coveted 5th title in five different divisions and retire happy.
LMAO,dude use your eyes, not compubox..It's the dumbest thing to quote,anyway..Marquez clearly won that fight imo..8-4 or 9-3..Hey but to each it's own..

Even if Marquez were to fight and defeat Bradley, the real champion at 147 would still be Mayweather Jr and there's no question about that so all he's basically chasing is a paper title. When fighters go down in history and their championships are recorded, they should only count lineal titles because the definition of a World Champion is champion of champions in the given weight division. So being a "world champ" in a division were another guy is clearly the lineal champ doesn't make you one too, even if you have one of the sanctioning body's titles. If we only had one world champion per division there wouldn't be so many fighters that have won world titles and they wouldn't be winning them in so many different weight divisions either. I've followed Juan Manuel Marquez's professional boxing career for a long time and I like him as a fighter, he's also always been an educated and well spoken fellow outside the ring so I respect him for that. I just don't agree with him saying that he wants to make history with a 5th world title when the title he's chasing is not the lineal title of the division anyway.

Marquez may be good with numbers and smart but he just had his own tax situation in Mexico.

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez believes the recent information that several papers disclosed regarding a taxation problem is a simple m

I think it's one thing to be an accountant but juggling the kind of money these guys end up making is hard. I just watched that espn 30 for 30 thing on broke. The rest of your life is a long time without multimillion dollar checks coming in. Ten million bucks seems like a lot to us on our current budget but the person with ten million bucks has a higher budget than us so their money goes as fast as ours. In the end if Marquez gets a hosting gig he's pretty good to go, if not we can start the countdown of when he'll be broke...sadly with most athletes it's a matter of time unless they find a life outside of the sport.

Do the cartels extort boxers in Mexico? you have to think they'd be easy targets.

Isn't Marquez an accountant? Would be pretty crazy for him to be bad with money after going to school to learn how to be good with it.
