Compared to white washing Donaire and Agbeko, there is no comparison. Floyd had a better year than Stevenson with the way he beat Guerrero and Alvarez. Bradley is more arguable, but beating Marquez is a huge win that Stevenson can't compare with. Provodnikov looks much better after beating Alvarado as well.

Stevenson's year is being severely overrated. He didn't beat guys who were very good.

For better or for worse, FOY is not about 1 signature win. Thats the point you seem to be missing. Adonis didnt have the best signature win, and he may not even be the #1 in any unofficial criteria for the award...but he has the best overall case for it (# of wins, quality of opponents, dominant performances, title defenses, etc).

Floyd winning would be a joke. He's only there because he is the face of the sport.

Without some hype, a dangerous "high risk-low reward" fighter like Golokin (or Kovalev) would NEVER get any big/meaningful fights and you know that.

As a boxing fan- He looks like he has the goods- if he wasn't being hyped on HBO, other fighters would use the high risk low reward/no mlney/not a big name excuse not to fight him... So what's wrong with a little hype?

(I only read this post and not the rest of the thread)
HYpe is one thing. Saying he is the best MW or top 5 p4p when he isn't is another.

Marketing him as "most avoided" yet not approving certain fights because GGG may not get a highlight reel KO is Bull**** IMO.

Bottom line is he is not deserving of FOTY IMO and I hope HBO is not able to affect voting with their marketing/promotional/hype machine.

Mr. Dunn, wait a little. Big Adonis will get KOd very soon next year.

I think that the Boxing Writers Association of America is able to assess fighters.

I agree with this. You have to balance quality/quantity. How often do fighters that take on P4P ranked opponents fight 4 times per year?

One of Stevenson's fights was to avenge a previous loss against a 19-21 Darnell Boone. Dawson and Cloud were coming off of one sided losses and Bellew is meh. He should be on the ballot though and I have no problem with that.

To me the only 3 I can see winning it is Floyd, Rigo and Bradley based on the who they beat and how they beat them.

So does this mean they made a mistake with Donaire?

ok. but you didn't answer the question.

How does what adonis said regarding the Kovalev fight change what he did in he ring this year or affect whether he is nominated for or wins FOTY?

I don't think he's fighter of the year either. And the only guy who wanted to fight but they didn't approve is Mora (who's on Stevens level, no?)

There's some guys more deserving then him for FOTY, as I mentioned in my OP : but FOTY discussion aside..... HBO NEEDS to hype him as much as possible, so long as he stays willing to fight anybody they can put in front of him

Floyd nor Rigo nor Bradley beat 2 elite/top fighters this year. Look at the recent winners of the award that won only 2 fights. (Ward, Sergio, Pac, Floyd) All of them beat 2 top guys...not a Providnikov, not a Agbeko, not a Guerrero

All I know is IF Floyd wins it would be an absolute travesty and this award would be a complete joke and should never be take serious again.

I have absolutely no idea how anybody could have him as FOTY... For BOXING reasons (because that Is what it should be about?)
