Seem to remember hearing somewhere that it's kinda something that was trained or told to the Cuban ams - not to 'avoid' a staredown, just to kinda ignore it, focus on their own thoughts and not really even acknowledge the opponent.

Quality from Rigo though, as has been said, we rarely get to see much of what kind of guy he is outside the ring.

        Quimbara Quimbara...
It shows in your face that you want to be popular (“entrar en guara” = be popular)
It's true that Martina was looking for money (“estilla” = money)
And you saw me over there with my audacity at “la puntilla” (la puntilla is a beach at west of Havana)
I know you found me drunk, with a tremendous gun, over there by “alamar”
(we usually call rifle to a bottle of alcoholic beverage. So I think with gun he means bottle of rum) ("alamar" is a seaside town at east of Havana)
I know you no longer like my race.
I know you don't like the colors, I am serious from almost white to white that take you to the graveyard
        goddamned nerds, that acts cool
You well know that I am a tough guy (“quemao” = tough and cool guy)
That I can fool you and the girl next to you
and come the nuns who have not been baptized
So they can taste the sin
        Listen Yes, man.

finally got it translated ..... he says something of this nature...

''yo im a beast i'm a monster nobody could disagree or say ****, my movement is like i shapeshift .. straight left gives you a different kind a facelift, punches coming at me but dodge them all like i'm stuck in the matrix..

nobody faded me ... i think Satan and God team up and started showing off when they created me ...

rematch with donaire it be a sad sight , i'll do it for fun dont care if the cash right, veins of ice i predict **** before it happens in the ring it's like if i was Nostradamus in my past life...

body punch feels what bulllet would thru a rib cage , i was once thrown in the middle of forest to survive for 6 days , came out with the head of big foot just using a switchblade and i was just in 6th grade !

damn this machine Of a 5'5 guy is no joke lol

I've seen Guille in different Spanish venues. He's got some personality. Rigo's much more reserved when he's in an English-speaking environment. He needs to open up; he can do it.
totally agree, he is a funny guy, the problem is the language barrier, it is hard to learn english when you live in Miami, almost everybody speak spanish and you dont have the need to learn english. I am cuban living for 7 years in miami I can write, speak, listen and read english but I am shy of my accent so I try to speak spanish instead of english whenever i can.

almost 40% are cubans, there are a lot of latinos from other countries. In Hialeah I am pretty sure that more than 90 % are cubans. Hialeah is the city with the most qty of spanish speakers in the U.S.

I remember meeting Rigo when he just got to the United States. Nobody noticed him and he was by himself hiding in a little corner like a lost kid in the Miccossukkee casino.

Me and friend came up to him and told him when was his first fight? He look scared to talk but once he started talking he couldn't stop. He talked to us about Gamboa,Lara and Solis and said he was surprised at watching a live professional boxing card compare to the amateur cards, he noticed that the US boxing fans want blood and action and he said in Cuban slang "Asi no es como uno pelea" which means "this is not how you fight". Definitely a cool cat
