Honestly, I don't think GBP has a lotta faith in AB's long term success. And right now, I think GBP, Haymon, and Floyd are collectively working together building AB into an attraction that they can do another mega event with Floyd. You can see it a mile away. Floyd is gonna turn on this kid the second they are outta recognizeable tomato cans and at a time when this kid's buzz is at its peak.
Agree with the Floyd part, but how is he gonna clean out LW, when he can barely make weight?

I think his move up to 147 is a protection move from Haymon, sounds funny, but fighting at 140, there's no way he could avoid guys like Garcia and Matthysse without it being blatantly obvious.

Since he moved up to 147. He can play around with the Paulies and the Maidanas for now, but yeah, once Broner's stuck, and they know they gotta cash him out because he ain't all that, they'll set that Floyd fight up.

I didn't like the Paulie fight, because I wanted him to get Abril and Burns at 135, but hey. Paulie was still a Top 10 WW, and so is Maidana. Maidana is a tough fight for most, I like this fight. I do think it'll be one of Broner's better wins.

Ponce was decent, Litzau was meh, Perez was ok, DeMarco was a good win, Paulie was decent. I think Maidana would be a solid win.

AB fought two fights at lightweight. I don't think making weight was a problem. I think that blowing up to 160lbs+ is a problem. But I think that if he were the gym rat Floyd is, he makes 35 easily. And could do it for several years.

As for the reasoning for his move to 47. I totally disagree. AB would beat Matthysse. And I think he beats Danny. I think the move to 47 originally was because he had started creating some buzz, and received flack for the Rees fight. Even though Rees in a top 10 lightweight. I think that Paulie was sitting there at 47, holding a belt and he was the perfect opponent to manufacture an event with. Moving up, especialy two divisions always will sell. And most of all, he and Paulie's personalities mixed was a can't miss in terms entertainment during the promotion.

Likewise, I think once the paulie fight was a box office success, GBP and Haymon likely started thinking about how big a Floyd-Broner fight could be if they played their cards right. And that's where the careful matchmaking was born. Maidana will establish him as a "legit" welter. Judah will be a very big fight in the African American community. And honestly, I think the Ishe-Molina winner was originally holding a 54 belt for AB to grab. Cause of the guys at 54, either of them are the only ones in that division AB could likely compete with. But those plans changed because it appears Canelo is gonna grab that belt.

Paulie ran. Maidana won't run. He is going to try his best, and he will still get obliterated by Broner. If you can't move against Broner, you're a sitting duck.

If GBP wasn't in such a hurry to build this kid into an attraction, we likely would have gotten Abril and Vazquez. I don't think we would have ever seen AB-Burns. Burns ducked him at 30. Doubt he would have fought him at 35 either. Nine times outta ten, GBP envisioned Gamboa being to AB when Chico Corrales was to Floyd. But of course, like I said, making money and turning AB into an attraction became the priority.

Man nobody is talking about this, but I wanna see if AB makes weight or if he does, how drained he is. Dude was around 175-180 at the press conference to announce the figt. That was 2 months ago

Weight drain happens when a fighter has to cut muscle. I doubt very seriously AB would have to cut any muscle to make 140, maybe even 135. When guys balloon between fights, conditioning is more of an issue than weight drain. And that's because instead of training 6-8wks for a fight. You basically spend 6-8wks simply trying to make weight. And your conditioning suffers because of it.

He's already on weight and in great shape. He's not drained in his second fight after jumping 2 weight classes lol

I wanna see Broner get impaled as much as anybody but Maidana? Dude almost got knocked out by Lopez. Yeah he can punch but he also gets hurt wayyyy to easy. Hate to say it but Broner will probably get a stoppage here. And Lord help us when that happens. If y'all think he's overrated now wait til he stops Maidana.
