  • Comments Thread For: Schaefer Lashes Out At Arum Over Mayweather-Pacquiao

Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, is very annoyed with some of the recently published comments from Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, regarding his willingness to make a super-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

During an interview with USA Today, Arum said his company was ready and willing to make a Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown, and he was waiting for someone on behalf of Mayweather to call his office.

"We've announced we're willing to make anything happen. Now somebody has got to contact us so we can sit down and explore how it can happen. Isn't that the way normal people deal? You can't wave a wand. I've said unequivocally, we're ready to sit down and see if a deal can be reached," Arum said. [Click Here To Read More]

Wow that was the best Schafer interview I've ever read on this site. I didn't realize he had such a sense of humor.

GBP knows how to do business and be straight up professional about it.

i know GBP will go over and beyond for the promotions, not like arums half ass recycled statements.

the 5 city may-canelo promo tour was ridiculous. its an event itself.

Schaefer is always angry. Can't blame him. This guy is just all pomp and glitter, without the $$$$$. The last fight they had was Hopkins vs Murat that's ages ago. HBO has been giving fans weekly fights.

With an expensive cash cow like Mayweather, things will be rough financially.

I agree with the banker. Floyd is the A side. Pay Top Rank a reasonable fee, give Pac a reasonable split, put their name on the marketing materials and be done with it.

Excuses for what being the highest paid athlete it's sad the Arum has to be a scumbag. My questions is doesn't Pacquiao have his own promotions why doesn't he do fights on his own? Why does he need Arum?
