Kazakhstan is in central Asia, but is also part of Eastern Europe. Golovkin is certainly a white fighter. Pacquiao is an Asian fighter.

1: It is not considered geographically part of eastern Europe but Asia but it was once a Soviet Republic if that is what you mean.

2: At a certain point someone's 'race' or 'ethnicity' is simply what they call themselves, I have no idea how Golovkin would refer to himself nor whether he would particularly care.

3: What exactly is the relevance of referring to him as a 'white' fighter?

Kazakhs are Turkic/Mongolic/Iranic, 70% of Kazakhs have some Caucasian features, similar to Iranians, such as blue eyes, white skin or light brown hair etc...

Claiming them to be white is a insult to them, some would beat the crap out of you if you suggested they are something their not as you would insult their heritage and culture.
