Its awful hearing about past greats from the 70s and 80s fighting on for too long and for the wrong reasons...it's so much worse to watch a guy do it that you grew up idolizing. HBO not paying enough?

Anyone know what kinda money these fights are making him?

Seeing that 9 in Roy's loss column doesn't sit well with me. Need to put an asterisk next to it.

Roy should stick to 4 rounders IMHO if hes doing it for fun.

Butterbean vs. RJJ, would be a fun fight

I wish Roy would just retire already. if your a name fighter like Roy or Mosley and your not on any of the two biggest boxing networks. It's just time to hang up the gloves.

Hopkins heard about the fight and thinks Roy has an excellent chance at victory. Roy would never let a French boy beat him, he said.

It's a bit ironic. Prime Roy Jones Jr. didn't want to fight outside the US. Roy Jones Jr. vs. Dariusz Michalczewski would have been a great fight.

In the Jones heyday fighting on HBO he used to get 4-5 million a fight. His highest payday was the John Ruiz fight that he got 10 million. So to answer your question as a commentator RJJ is not seeing those type of numbers. Most commentators will have multiple jobs outside of the ring as well such as radio, newspaper, other media outlets. So HBO is not going to pay RJJ the type of money being a commentator. Which is why RJJ is so willing now to fight overseas now because they are willing to compensate him to bring him to their country something America TV networks is not willing to do right now.
