If there was one champ who fights twice a year, that means he only takes care of one mandatory per year. The rest of the guys fight "bums" with no incentive to take risks for basic pay in fear of falling down the rankings.

Really, when a champ holds 3 belts there should be no such thing as a voluntary, the mandatories from each organisation should be enforced. The problem is, they aren't.

If the other belts were freed up we'd be watching entertaining bouts like Pulev v Stiverne or Fury v Povetkin for world titles. Instead, they all just wait around avoiding each other hoping for a Klitschko down the line. It's ruining the heavyweight division.

most HW champions only fight twice\year. 1 mandatory & one voluntary. others have fought more then twice\year but their level of opposition is usually weaker that year or they had a fight in January, july & December... with one title, only one set of rankings. you want a title shot you got to beat the guy ahead of you... it's that simple. then the best fights would be made. you want to climb then you beat the guys ahead of you. they could have 4 or 8 man eliminations tournys etc...

the problem is having 4 world titles & not 1. if there was only one world title he would have to fight his mandatory but since he has multiple belts there are multiple mandatories & he should have to fight them all first before making a voluntary. 1 champion= 1voluntary, then one mandatory, repeat... no need for 4 titles because all it does is water down the rankings & the best fights are not made...

Do Klitschko's pay their opponents poorly? I thought Chambers made a cool million and I haven't heard other guys complaining.

maybe i'm old school but peter mcneely got 500000 to fight Tyson. bruce seldon 3.2 million, Michael grant 5 million to fight lennox, etc... chisora got something like 450000 to fight vitali. wlad made the IBF reduce thompson's share from 75\25 split to 85\15 split. they are cherry picking opponents & paying them less then what they should be. chambers was his mandatory so it was a purse split. you get a HW title shot you should be getting a minimum 7 digit check. just my opinion & it's the way it use to be. i know the world economy is weaker now so that probably has contributed to the decline in purses...

no he just needs to start paying guys more & get rid of the multiple rematch clauses. the thing is the german fans pack the house no matter who he is fighting so he can fight butterbean & still make a boat load of money. i'm sorry but there are lots of fights out there for him but he refuses to compensate guys to get in the ring with him. look at abdusalamov. he got $40000 & now look at him. who in their right mind would want to fight a klitschko 3 times in a row & not get paid handsomely for it?

It's crap for boxing, Wlad might not fight again until May and if it's not Pulev, Kubrat wastes more of his prime and the fans miss out on some great alternative bouts.
