Reason is: cable companies know floyd is the bigger draw and would cater to him and not manny, so manny and every other ppv fight is regulated to other dates

showtime and hbo was going head to head with same dates before and both got burned. they wouldn't risk it with top ppv events.

a lot of pac's fights were cinco de mayo weekend as well and some mexican independence day weekend.

it stopped not because of cable companies or even floyd vs. pac.

The truth about mayweather pay per views is that he does not do well without a Mexican holiday date and Mexican opponent. Fact is not even african Americans pay to see his fights he would not sale more tickets than manny if they fought the same day.and Floyds faught someone like Alexander. Yes ? No?

yeah but it wasn't ppv vs. ppv. iirc canelo-lopez was regular showtime.

plus it was more a fluke than norm.

canelo was suppose to fight pwill that day.

when pwill went fast and furious, fight was cancelled.

hbo/TR then set up chavez-serg for that day.

then they started fighting over it.

TR reason was the fight was cancelled so it was open date. (first PWILL got hurt and then iirc Kirkland pulled out of canelo fight.)

GBP reason was they had the date first.

Because your dealing with very prideful people here...they hate the fact that Mayweather is still able to make money using "their" holidays. Canelo was the last great hope and he was easily schooled. There's nobody left so bitterness has reset in and these threads will continue until Floyd retires. Real simple though boxing is a business and it would be ****** of Floyd to fight on any other day when those two dates have proven to be the most lucrative fight weekends for him.

True...except the Sergio vs Chavez card was PPV. SHO card was on regular SHO Network. Both cards were huge draws at gate & on tv.
