Big Difference Between Kovalev and Golovkin

First allow me to say that I'm a huge fan of both and want them both to succeed. In fact I wouldn't even want them to fight each other cus I'd hate to see either one destroy the other.

But with that said, these guys are very similar and Kovalev is in some ways just a bigger stronger version of Golovkin.

By the way, Kovalev looks like he can be Golovkin's father but did you know Golovkin is actually older than him and Kovalev is younger and fresher. Kovalev is 2 inches taller, younger, has 2 inch reach advantage, is much heavier and punches harder.

However to me the big difference between them is that Golovkin gets hit, alot. Show me a fight where Kovalev was getting tagged as much as Golovkin got tagged by Curtis Stevens.

The point is if they fought, I see Golovkin being far more willing to get tagged just to land some punches of his own and this would be his downfall. Kovalev would annihilate Golovkin, point blank.

Kovalev is easier to hit than Golovkin. His fights just don't last long enough to where you see him take a lot of punches. For the 2 or 3 rounds they last, I've never seen anyone have trouble landing.

The major difference between the two is their approach. Golovkin takes a more careful, technical approach, where he boxes smart with his pressure and doesn't press hard unless he hurts you. Kovalev is a ****ing machine coming out to hurt and knock you out from round 1. Dude's like a light heavyweight George Foreman, he knows he can hurt you and knows you can land, and his mission is to take you out as quick as possible.

There's not much point in considering Kovalev-Golovkin. They're two divisions away from each other and no one is asking for it. Both have fights people actually want to see that are far more reasonable.

p.s. this thread is in reaction to bunch of dumb posters still talking about the sparring session and thinking Abel Sanchez's comments meant that "Golovkin dominated Kovalev" which is a joke, no where did Sanchez say that or even imply that.

These two fight at weight classes 15lbs apart.

Of course Kovalev is bigger, hits harder, has a reach advantage.

Why on earth are people mentioning these guys in the same breath. It's not even same division, next division, it's 2 divisions difference.

You just said the opposite of what I said although I agree on the other stuff you said. However keep in mind their last fights show a different story. Kovalev was not hit at all and annihilated his opponent. Golovkin was rocked and bombed on heavily, monster bombs from Stevens landing cleanly on his face all night before he could put STevens away.

Firstly it's because Golovkin's hype train is much bigger than Kovalev's right now and his damn stans (I'm a huge fan of his..not a STAN) are claiming Golovkin can terrorize and destroy anyone from 150 to 175lbs.

Secondly they keep spouting that sparring session exaggeration b.s. which I just read a few minutes ago someone else once again was spouting in another different thread. They think just because these 2 sparred and Abel Sanchez is the only one that had comments, they take that to mean Golovkin won when in reality what you said is the truth, they are far apart in weight and if they actually fought Kovalev would destroy Golovkin.

You obviously didn't watch the Stevens fight. Even the interviewer afterwards was pressing Golovkin very hard about why he was hit so brutally and so often that night and Golovkin just blushed and sort of ran his hands along his face and had no answer and said he was never hurt. Meanwhile Sillakh didn't land anything please stop lying.

I think Roy Jones put it well on Saturday. Kovalev isn't wasting any time in the ring. He's coming to take you out immediately. It's rare to see a guy be skillful and that aggressive. GGG is more methodical in his approach. Both guys are killers.
