Comments Thread For: Tony Bellew Ponders Move To The Cruiserweight Ranks

On Saturday night, Tony Bellew (20-2-1, 12KOs) was knocked out in his bid to take the WBC light heavyweight title from Adonis Stevenson in Quebec City. Stevenson won via a sixth-round stoppage as he battered Bellew with hard punches. A huge left-hand knocked Bellew to his feet, and the fight was stopped when the Liverpudlian was boxed into a corner moments later. Now Bellew feels a move up in weight, by 25-pounds, might be the best move for him.

A lot of the LHWs are probably pondering a move to the cruiserweight division after seeing Kovalev's performance last night.

Is that the new trend on what to do when you get knocked out?

      First Cleverly now Bellew.

Bellew is just so far from world level. His performance last night is pathetic.

To be fair Bellew had a reputation as a debilitating puncher as an amateur.

Seems to have gone missing as a pro a little.

Is this supposed to be encouraging? .

To bad for them cruiserweight is a very good division with punchers that are naturally bigger men. I don't see Bellew or Cleverly have anymore success by moving up.

He came to get lucky, nothing else:

              No jab.
              No aggression.
              No effective counter attack.
              No combinations.
Too much faking to throw a punch instead of throwing one.
Too much head movement without capitalizing on chances.

              C'mon man.

really hate it when boxers make excuse about weight after a loss.
