I was there for the fight. Paul was reaching a lot! And his classic great defensive skills weren't there. His great head movement that he's had in the past stopped after about the second round. Perez has an awkward style! A lot more awkward than I'd ever noticed about him prior to this fight. And perez's counter ability was impressive to me as well, and I'm a long time Spadafora fan, drove 7 hours to go support Paul. My thoughts.....I think Perez will surprise a lot of us boxing fans that didn't/don't know much about him. He's a talented fighter who obviously got started late(only 20 pro fights at age 30). That being said, I think Spadafora is certainly not done! It wasn't like he got steamrolled for 12 rounds. In fact the way the score cards worked for the hometown fighters in the undercards I'm shocked they didn't give Spaddy a draw at minimum although even as a spadafora supporter I had it 7-5 Perez. Put it this way a hometown kid Morgan Fitch was knocked down 3 times(twice in one round) so a 10-8 and a 10-7 round, yet one judge scored it for him and another judge scored it even. Only one judge scored it properly. This the reason I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised had they given spaddy at least a draw which one judge did. The 117-111 scorecard was way off base. The fight was much closer than that, spadafora was the more aggressive fighter, surprisingly coming forward and pressing the action. Ok enough detail, I think this loss will actually open more doors for Spaddy assuming he stays out of trouble. His trainer Tom Yankello who is a great guy for the sport and in general hit it right on the head saying that Paul will now be looked at as less of a risk to bigger name fighters but still look good for their résumé due to his record. Point being, I think Paul will get a big fight, more than likely a bigger one than this last one! Again, assuming he stays out of trouble and the first loss of his career doesn't send him spiraling out of control!!!!

Thanks for the detail. Crazy you drove 7 hours.

Seems like quite an interesting fight. If Perez is as awkward as said, he will indeed be trouble. Is Perez orthodox or a southpaw?

He is orthodox. But what makes him awkward and tough for anyone is he gets off first a lot but also counters just as often. He will make for a tough game plan. As far as driving 7 hours.....I've been a spadafora fan since he turned pro. Even had custom hoodies made for me and the wife. What can you? This one hurt for me. I'd just like to see Paul get in there with the best at least once to see how he fares and to get a good payday before he hangs it up and goes into training cause that's really what he wants to do. I still think he would give top guys a lot of trouble. He's a slick southpaw.

Did his head movement stopping hurt him you think? You said he stopped after the second? Was he getting hit to the body or did it seem like he was tiring?
