Arum seems desperate not to lose Cotto... I think he wants Cotto to finish his career with him.
i'm not going to believe he's that desperate until i hear it from his own mouth.
it's still a 15 million dollar guarantee for one side of the card. he's not even champion. he commands more money than martinez, but martinez isn't going to take a small percentage of what cotto is making.
you're talking about a main event that's going to cost 20-30 million, and it definitely won't sell like a floyd mayweather or pacqauio ppv.
the only rub here is that it's a fight martinez won't shy away from. that's a good opportunity for dibella if it exists. a great opportunity, actually. if arum is really looking to pony up that kind of dough it will be an offer martinez and dibella cannot refuse. it's a defense at MW for a ton of money without the involvement of gennady golovkin.

$3.5 million for Delvin Rodriguez screams desperation to me. It would be a horrible look for Top Rank and HBO if Cotto goes straight to ShowTime after getting that much money for a tuneup against a journeyman.

I don't think we'll ever hear him say that...maybe saying he'd really love to have Cotto stay with him or something like that.
15M does seem like a lot, at the same time I don't expect Martinez to break double digits. Not like Martinez has a choice in the matter. He knows he's in competition with Canelo right now. He can try and haggle and Cotto will go straight to Canelo and Showtimes 10M. IMO, they want money and know they're in no position to talk it down.
I think Arum is expecting it to sell a lot if he's offering Cotto that much. i don't see 1M... but 600k+ seems possible
