I love Canelo but what has he done to earn this fight again? The fight itself would be huge I just think Martinez has more than proven himself when it comes down to it.

What has Cotto done to earn this high-dollar fight? He lost to Mayweather and Tout... and is coming off a win against a Dominican scrub.

Cotto vs. Canelo is a done deal. People need to stop arguing about it. Cotto is not going to wait until late Summer to fight Martinez when he can earn $10+ million now.

He cares more about his family than boxing politics. He's taking the money.

I think what's holding up the announcement of the fight right now is the date.

Cotto likes to have long training camps(3-4 months) to get in shape and his adviser has stated the same thing for promotional tour purposes. There is no way Cotto will take the fight for March 8 when he probably doesn't want to start doing any type of training till January.

There's no titles on the line what exactly does he have to earn.? Financially the fight makes sense for all parties involved. A Martinez vs Cotto fight would be an insult to all the middleweight contenders. Having a guy who's never fought at that division get a shot at the lineal title.

He's coming off a loss and his only big win is Austin Trout. Maybe he should fight a Molina or rack up another good performance against an actual JRMW in order to entice Cotto and make the fight even more demanding. Cotto's earned his stripes in the sport and established himself as a marketable name who fights everybody. Duran got Barkley after all, so why not?

This article is cool and what not bit what is REALLY revealing are the comments from the Mexican fans! WOW! I cant believe what I read, ALL of the comments are negative toward Canelo hoping that he gets his $h1t pushed in by Cotto, pro Cotto. These are Mexicans, since I can tell by the verbage being utilized. Crazy eye opener!

Entice Cotto? Again it's not a title fight the money is there and Cotto is not going to make 8 digits against anyone else ,other than the two obvious names. This hands down. Floyd won every round and managed a draw and losing 2 and 3 rounds against Canelo. Forget CJ Ross there was another one (forgot name) who did the Mayweather/Cotto fight and according to the scorecards Canelo did better than Cotto lol. GBP isn't about to let Canelo get another loss, with Martinez worst case scenario the cards will be even if not a little in his favor. But the judges in China (fought there) had the Manny fight fairly called (granted it was easy) but no one had it a ****ing draw >.>

Who cares about money. Cotto is a wealthy man win lose or draw. That's not the point. Martinez is a chance to make history for the island. If Manny was able to fight for a vacant belt at 154 based on his name and resume alone then Cotto's contribution to the sport should count for something as well.
If they're bound to clash(Canelo) then it's cool but a Sergio fight has it's fair share of drama and buzz. Needless to say, they both work with TopRank so it's the easier fight to make.
