Manny is always a viable opponent for floyd, agree. So in that regard he doesn't have to "earn" a floyd shot.

In terms of "earning" a shot at the lineal title-i think its fair to say beating a ww does that more than beating a JWW.

the problem with that argument is that Pac has beat plenty - he had one bad night - and really a bad round, bc he was beating JMM and got caught. its not as if Pac did nothing in his career, got knocked out by JMM and then beat Rios. All of sudden all his achievements from '99 - '11 mean nothing?

I see what you're saying, Manny has achieved a lot in his career. BUT, he does have two recent losses to this one fresh win over a mediocre fighter. The public may not be completely sold on Manny being back. From a business standpoint, confidence that a fight is going to be highly competitive; where either fighter can win, is going to sell the most tickets & PPVs. There needs to be more of a build-up to a Manny-Floyd fight. Not a long drawn-out one, but at least one more tough fight for Manny.
