Comments Thread For: Arum's Statement on Manny Pacquiao's Tax Issues

If Manny Pacquiao has paid his taxes then leave the man alone. F-cking taxes, the more I learn about them in tax class and the more taxes I prepare the more I hate the IRS and NY state taxes. I volunteer for the IRS preparing taxes for low income taxpayers so that I can get some experience while in college. I want to work for the IRS some day but man, I don't know I hate them more and more every day. The government works FOR the people, why is it that if you make $75k you only take home $45k in NY, cause you pay the rest in taxes. That's bullsh-t. This needs to change.Comment

Yall are blowing this **** way outta proportion
First of all Arum knows all the tricks and loopholes to avoid paying the maximum in taxes
1.) Its a well known fact that Warren Buffet pays a lower tax rate than his secretary. How does he do this? Because most of his money is from Capital Gains which is taxed around 10%. Arum knows this and hates paying taxes so he probably did the same thing for Pacquiao.
2.) PPV revenue does not come in all at once at the end of the year. It takes years for all that money to be collected so thats what makes it more confusing.
3.) Pacquiao is a congressman which means he has a lifelong pension. Even if he lost all his money tomorrow, he would still have enough to live comfortably for the rest of his life.
And to all the people saying floyd is in a better position, how?
He has no endorsements for after boxing. Even Mike Lee has Subway.
Al Haymon has him on allowance.
He spends hundreds of thousands on purses and ********. I can understand ******** because there is the potential for profit just like playing the stock market but you have to be a true dumbass to spend 200k on a purseLast edited by BIGPOPPAPUMP; 11-26-2013, 11:53 PM.Comment

Yahoo reported the BIR freezed only two of his accounts which contain $1.1 mill. They suspect he's hiding money elsewhere and not telling.
They're probably going after him because his total earnings have been reported publicly in the media.
The BIR raises an eye brow and starts to wonder "where's the rest of the money he supposedly earned?"
Perhaps they'll come up with a way to resolve that situation soon.Comment

That is likely the case. His money's stashed in foreign accounts.
Perhaps they'll come up with a way to resolve that situation soon.
The LA Times, ESPN, Yahoo, etc have all reported that 22 of his bank accounts have been frozen, but only 2 of them had any money, which they garnished. I don't believe Pacquaio has cash in some secret off-shore account because Bob Arum basically said otherwise in the LA Times piece.
Manny Pacquiao’s bank accounts in the Philippines have been frozen, stopping him from fulfilling his promise to help typhoon victims in his homeland, according to his promoter.
Arum said Pacquiao has other accounts elsewhere but declined to elaborate.
Arum previously donated $25,000 to the typhoon relief effort and said he’d be willing to front Pacquiao more money for the recovery, “but where am I going to put it?”He contradicted himself unknowingly. But what else is new. And if you have money elsewhere outside the Philippines, why are you borrowing $25K from Arum? Why not just get the cash from your off-shore non-Philippine accounts?
