It's in relation to Froch being the household favourite. Groves felt he was fighting on a rival promoters card, but he had a contract with Mathroom.

"George Groves has signed with promoter Eddie Hearn after announcing his split from Frank Warren and pulling out of a challenge for the European super-middleweight crown."
    (...)
Groves will also appear on the Carl Froch-Mikkel Kessler bill on 25 May.
"Eddie Hearn is doing great things promotionally and I'm excited to be a part of it," said Groves, 24.
"I've had three fights in 18 months, which is not ideal, so it will be great for me to get out regularly.
"I'm healthy, I'm training hard and Eddie has promised to keep me busy, so everything is looking good and I'm raring to get back into action."
    (...)
"I'll have just as close an eye on the Froch v Kessler fight as I really believe I could get a crack at the winner and Eddie knows I want that fight."
I'm pretty sure Groves is out of a contract with Mathroom now, although they may look to extend it. It was a 2-3 fight deal that Hayemaker made with Matchroom. So it depends on where Groves goes with management etc. because Mathroom manage most of their fighters, only guys like Groves and Frampton had other managers which obviously resulted in splits and strange contractual situations.

Groves will probably renew with Mathroom though.

      The rematch is fascinating.

      Pro Groves:
That nuclear right hand in the 1st proves he has the power.
It's logical to think that he's going to get better (didn't take severe punishment and is only 25) - consider his development since that razor tight decision against DeGale and the Anderson fight. You'd think Carl is either at or had his peak.
He seems like a meticulous planner; if he's honest with himself he'll see there are potential stamina issues and hopefully address it. I do think he hurt Carl more than once in that fight, but the KD in round 1 made him a bit gung ho at times (see round 6).

      Pro Froch:
      - If he HAD underestimated George, he's unlikely to do so again in the rematch (his trainer addressed George as a dangerous fighter in the post fight presser which could undermine this).
      - He came back from a heavy knockdown and forced that situation in round 9. Watching it in the arena then the sky feed the day after I like many felt George boxed great, but with more time to reflect on it Carl must get huge credit for creating that comeback scenario, irrespective of the unsatisfactory finish.
      - George may have had his moment on Saturday, the shock factor is gone now.

Beyond all the farcical words spouted, it was a very entertaining fight on the back of a very underwhelming undercard that looked good on paper but didn't wholly deliver. I'm a fan of both fighters, and whilst I find Carl to be arrogant he is a scarily tough man. My biggest disappointment is it seems to be a bad reflection on British Boxing from the wider boxing public.

Anyways on topic there is a **** load of money to be made on another one so it's absolutely going to happen.

I have heard George before the fight he was saying the Matchroom sports boxing deal was for 3 fights. The Carl Froch fight was his 3rd under matchroom. The Dario German Balmaceda, Noe Gonzalez Alcoba and Carl Froch fights were under Matchroom/ Eddie Hearn so it will be interesting to hear if he has extended the deal or is a free agent.

George said the Baker Barakat fight did not count as it was on short notice in Germany on a Sauerland Events promotion.
Maybe you know better... At http://www.matchroomboxing.com/profiles.htm, Groves is still listed as a Matchroom fighter...

If Froch fights Groves again, I think he gets stopped. Groves will adapt and Froch will come out aggressive early on trying to make a statement and he'll get taken apart by a confident Groves. The ice has been broken, next time Groves won't let the fight go that far.

Um ok. So I guess Froch was just trying to puss out when the decision is really up to him if he wants to fight Groves again
I think they both want to cash out

Groves is a free agent, his manager was Booth and that deal has come to an end after Saturdays fight

Eddie Hern nor Booth have any claim over Groves, he is free to sign with anyone he likes
