Comments Thread For: Rios Humbled: Pacquiao is Difficult To Box Against

Manny Pacquiao beat Brandon Rios on points in Macau on Sunday and answered all of the questions, but one, about his immediate future. Pacquiao won the bout 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 and collected the WBO international welterweight belt. The former eight-division champion dominated the bout from the opening seconds until the end. He improved his record to 55-5-2, with 38 wins inside the distance, while Rios' record dropped to 31-2-1, with 23 knockouts.

He's smart for being truthful. He has earned my respect. Now let's see how his trainer and strength hand conditioning coach respond.

No surprise that Rios struggled, he cannot handle dynamic movement. Almost needless to say that the drums will once again begin to beat for Mayweather/Pacquiao 4 years after its sell by date.

I don't think beating Rios puts anyone in front of the line to fight Floyd. Pac and Bradley have unfinished business to take care of. But hey, since Floyd is having difficulty finding opponents these days I'm not complaining if a fight with Pac is made for May. I just don't think outboxing Rios is anything to get excited about. I mean Alvarado was able to do it and he isn't even that great of a boxer. Rios vs. Provodnikov is the fight that has to be made. Now that's an opponent Rios doesn't have to chase around the ring.

It's hard to win a fight when all you do is cover up and eat shots. Only good shots you landed was in the clinch and Pac did nothing

Rios was tailor-made for Pacquiao to look good. A walk forward punching bag with endless endurance. At least the $4m Rios got made it worthwhile for him and his family.

i don't know what robert had told rios in between breaks..rios is not throwing a jab...all he had to do is cover his face with his gloves...

i don't think it was garcia's instruction not to throw a punch or was rios so scared to open up...?

I'd guess it would still be an amazing fight. Perhaps even better now, if Manny really is a smarter fighter now. Have not seen all of them, but I don't think Floyd has faced anyone like Manny. Would be interesting to see how each would respond to the other.

pac looked good but not great, rios was there to be bashed as expected but pac took some shots of his and stuck to his plan. itll be interesting to see who he fights next i think a faster sharper fighter would of gave pac hell tonight. pac had his moments but at times seemed to slack a little bit and let rios do his dirty work on the inside
