There is a difference on being an American and an American Citizen. Believe it or not, It makes sense if you live in the U.S.
He is from philly with a Puerto Rican background, That's about it.
Both of his parents were born on the island, so he was raised just like any other island kid, just in America. His old hood is basically a Puerto Rican territory.
Puerto Ricans are American citizens.

In school we use to do the cap test and on it has a list of race and My teacher always told me to put down hispanic. I wasnt born in PR but I can go to caquas and not get lost. Win or lose danny is puerto rican. I dont care if he loses his next 3 fights to me he is rican...

Margarito was born in America, he was raised in Mexico and he has Mexican parents, it work both ways for people or boxers, he can rep Mexico because he was raised there and speaks the language but he can also use the American passport to work without any restrictions, personally I class Garcia as a PR, the problem is sometimes some people get offended if you say to them "Where are you from"?
