Comments Thread For: Carl Froch: Groves Will Run For His Life, Not Fight

Carl Froch accused domestic rival George Groves of preparing to "run for his life" at their final head-to-head press conference ahead of Saturday night's world super-middleweight title fight in Manchester.

The pair flung a succession of bad-tempered insults with Froch vowing to make Groves pay for his perceived lack of respect by "annihilating" his unbeaten opponent when he puts his WBA and IBF titles on the line.

Froch mocked Groves' detailed declaration of how he intended to take the Nottingham man's title, insisting: "What you've been saying for 10 weeks is pathetic. You've embarrassed yourself and on Saturday night I'm going to put it right."

Sounds an awful lot like the kind of **** Froch was saying before the Ward fight - "I've got a massive punch" "He's got no chin" "All I have to do is land my right" Some how I don't that'll ring true come Saturday night...

Froch made a bit of a **** of himself again, made me laugh when he was going on about Groves saying things and disrespecting him and when ask when and what was said he looked sheepish and refused to answer, truth is it hasnt happened anywhere but Froch's own head.

Froch seems to have been pi$$ed at Groves since he sparred with Kessler, maybe even before. He has never liked the idea of Groves as an opponent and has seemed irritated by the very idea of it. Were it not for the belt, he would not have fought him imo.

Groves continues to chip away at Froch's inflated ego. Froch has already claimed that legacy wise he has surpassed Calzghe, and over course of the last hand full of years he has taken on the Ward,Bute,Taylor, and Kessler. After all those fights, against that level of opposition, he seems to think Groves is beneath him as an opponent.Groves has exacerbated this annoyance with continuous line of trash talk,I think we either see one of two things on Saturday either Froch is extremely motivated or we see a 35 year old start to show his age.

I don't remember Froch saying Ward had no chin.

And let's not compare Andre Ward to Geroge Groves.

tbh I think Froch is right in that Groves won't stand in the middle of the ring. That's a total bluff.

does anyone on here think Groves is going to win? Might he be under Frochs skin and come out with a brilliant game plan, mix up boxing with using his youth and athleticism to fight at the right time. Kinda like he's trying to make him see red with the intention of playing matador to the bull

it wouldn't be smart for groves to stand in the middle of the ring and fight him. i like froch but you cant discredit guys that can BOX just because it makes it harder for you to hit them, there suppose to make it difficult for you.
