Comments Thread For: Gavin: Manny Pacquiao Will Shred Brandon Rios To Bits

To assess the huge Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios showdown on BoxNation this Sunday morning, boxing writer Glynn Evans spoke to reigning British welterweight king Frankie Gavin, a man who is himself on the cusp of world contention at 147lbs.

The Birmingham star puts his Commonwealth title on the line against Joseph Lamptey on December 21st at the First Direct Arena in Leeds and a win will see him enter 2014 with the European and a world title firmly in his sights. Tickets are available on 0844 248 1585.

Filipino legend Pacquiao once enjoyed parallel support alongside Floyd Mayweather in the debate to be considered the sport’s premier pound-for-pound practitioner. [Click Here To Read More]

Manny shutout Bradley and JMM is Pacs worst matchup.

Lets see how he bounces back, I cant see rios going past 8.

Where the hell do you guys come up with Marquez was nearly finished?
You act as if Marquez wasn't firing back the entire time Pacquiao was.
It was a back and forth fight like their previous 3 that ended abruptly in the 6th round.

Marquez has never been stopped. He wasn't stopped in the 3 previous fights, even though he was knocked down but again never stopped. What makes you think the 4th fight that Pac was going to finish him?

Stop being delusional, and stop calling Marquez lucky. The guy is one of the most skilled boxer in history. He trained differently for his fight with Pacquiao. Where as in his 3 previous fights he trained for speed, here he trained for power. He figured out, finally that he couldn't ever match Pacquiao's speed, and instead chose to bulk up and use his power. And you know what it worked!

It puzzles me when people say Pacquiao was winning the fight convincingly before the KO. I think Pacquiao was starting to come on, but I think people forget Marquez had knocked him down prior to the KO and thats when Manny started fighting harder an coming at Marquez in a straight line and that got him KTFO.

marquez played the matador; he encouraged pacquiao to fight more aggressively because he gambled that he could withstand it and land a perfect counterpunch. the plan worked to perfection.

Without bias I would say that the Manny that showed up to JMM-Pac4 beats Marquez 4 out of every 5 times. But outcomes like the one we got is why boxing is exciting.
