Speed, movement and timing. Cotto has all these but he is getting older, Canelo was baffled with Floyds movement and range. Cotto needs to study that tape and pick out the bits he can replicate.

Apply pressure. Canelo can't deal with pressure. When he's pressured he covers up and wait for spots to fight in spurts. If Cotto tries to box him he (Cotto) will get Hammered.

Fight him by boxing Canelo early, showing him who the more skilled fighter is and take away his confidence. Then late, when Canelo begins to fade, attack the body and press him. He may not get the stoppage, but he'll get a clear UD.

He should use his boxing skill but fight off the front foot being offensive minded being smart with his pressure. Canelo is a decent boxer but he is not really a guy that can fight off the back foot great, Canelo would have some opportunities doing this but I think he would he hard pressed to take full advantage of them.
