James DeGale Might Actually Beat Ward and Froch

James Degale looked very good for most of the fight against Davis last night. He looks like one of the best super middleweights on the planet right now. I thought Degale beat Groves clearly and was robbed in that fight largely due to the crowd who were mainly supporting Groves and cheered at everything he did, which in turn influenced the judging.

Dyah Davis sparred with Andre Dirrell in preparation for the Degale fight, but Degale dominated him in nearly every round. Degale can get sloppy sometimes and holds his hands low a lot which he would have to sharpen up against the likes of Ward and Froch but I give Degale a decent shot at beating both fighters. He is approaching elite level very fast and I believe he would up his game with the added motivation of fighting an elite level boxer.

I didn't see last night's fight but Dwyer rates DeGale as the most talented in the division. Make of that what you will.

Don't like DeGale at all. Tries to be charasmatic, but comes across as a big snob. Such an unlikeable character. I'm happy Groves embarrassed him after all the talk he did.

I think defensively he is quite strong. As long as he is not resting on the ropes.

I think he is a world level fighter. His career so far is pretty early Calzaghe like. Except that Joe never got beaten but did look terrible at times against Reid and Starie. Just like DeGale has looked pretty naff against Wilcewski and the Frenchman he fought.

Mick Hennessey needs to deliver a world class opponent for him.

As a boxer, I think DeGale has some serious talent, and if he concentrates he can only add more skills to his arsenal. As a person I cannot stand the prick, he is ****y, arrogant and has the brain function of a 12yr old.

I really don't see it, at all.

His work-rate is extremely low, he slaps his punches, his concentration wanders, etc...I think he has regressed since the Groves fight, and I like James.

He's a decent fighter, doesn't belong in the same ring as Ward or Froch.

He's definitely world level IMO, I saw an interview with him earlier and he seems dejected that he hasn't got a world title shot yet but I think he is actually taking a good route, gaining valuable experience along the way. Interesting comparison there with Calzaghe's early career path.

OK. If that's what you want. Ward will be back in February/March. He needs an opponent. Let's get it signed.
