you're trying to tell me you wouldn't make an attempt / leverage for an extra couple hundred thousand dollars?
cmon, man. take carl froch's huge c#ck out of wherever you've wiggled it in. it's easy to say that when it's not your money. 200K. that's about 150,000 pounds. that's a lot of f#cking stella.
that's an entry level lamborgini, a rental property, top flight used sailboat, or even 150 top flight hookers.
you'd also have a huge mental advantage knowing that he was coming to the ring so downtrodden from a million dollar payday turning to a 650K payday.
it's going to really suck if they cancel the fight over this. i think that's a bad move. hbo would be pissed, as would everybody who pays $20 a month for it. i cannot see that happening. it makes sense for no one.
there's nothing wrong with testing the waters and squeezing rodriguez' people for and extra 10%. you'd be silly not to do the same. it's what your lawyer and mananger would all but force you to do in acting in your best interest.Comment

If this isn't his "business" I don't know what is... You just saw a guy get put into a coma a few weeks ago competing in this sport and you think Ward should be letting a few thousand dollars go to shake off some ring rust or put on a show "for the fans"... He got cheated on the scale..he's fighting a guy who's going to be bigger then him... That's the exact kind of situation that can hurt him and his career, you'd better believe he is going to want to be compensated if he's taking an even bigger risk than he already is.Comment

As much as you b1tch and moan about Ward on these forums-why do you even care if he fights since you don't like him????Comment

The 20% penalty wasnt an agreed settlement. That's what the California State Athletic Commision demands. The WBA has their own penalty in place. To those saying that since isnt a WBA title fight any longer that the penalty doesnt apply, the rule was put in place for exactly that reason. Think about it...if the fighter makes weight than there is no penalty because there was no violation. Its only when the fighter, in a WBA sanctioned World championship bout, fails to make weight does he violate the contract. Rodriguez violated both contracts and has the legal obligation to pay the penalty. This isnt about Ward being greedy, that money is now HIS.Comment

Strip Edwin naked. Take all of his money. For his lack of discipline, he shouldn't even step in the ring with ward.Comment
