I'd take Austin still. Austin beat davarryl Williamson, Andrew golota, owen beck (when he could take a punch) & had draws with larry Donald, lance whitaker & sultan ibragimov... he lost all his other step up fights while liakhovich beat Dominick guinn & lamon Brewster & lost every other step up fight. i'd take the draws & Austin wins over anything liakhovich did. how is it not debatable? I don't think Austin had any amateur background. he fought in those thunderbox & tough guy gigs. he got his break fighting owen beck. the event was in Cleveland & it was an IBF eliminator. beck vs someone. beck's opponent pulled out on a couple days notice & don king was scrambling to find an opponent for his HW eliminator main event. ray Austin was the only HW in town (he lived there) so he got the fight. he pulled an upet which led to the ibragimov fight which led to the klitschko fight. he was a recognized HW ever since. liakhovich had a career night vs Brewster. Brewster had a tendency to sleep walk thru some fights. was he up to par that evening? liakhovich never won another meaningful fight. it was his only relevant win other then his defeat of guinn...You gotta be f'n shittin me with this BS.
Ray Austin doesn't have one single quality win in his entire career. Not even a kinda sorta good win.
And he was frickin' 41 years old for christs sake.
And thanks for bringing up Liakhovich's performance against Helenius (who's rated in the top 10 btw) which was in 2011. When was Ray Austin's last "quality" showing against a world rated opponent? A 2006 draw against Ibragimov? Liakhovich was better and more proven than Austin and it's not even debatable.Last edited by joe strong; 11-15-2013, 10:41 AM.Comment

Wow, this is incredibly bad boxing analysis. Austin had several quality HW wins, and tied against a top 5 HW in Ibragimov and a top 10 one in Donald. White Wolf had only one quality win. He had a belt an Austin never did, otherwise its no comparison. Moreover, SL was totally shot when he faced Wilder, coming off 18 month layoff, and hadn't had a quality win in 7 years. Austin beat 2 top 25ish HW's two years before matchup w Stiverne (Golota and Williamson, and mock all you will, but their performances in that era warranted top 25 designation). You gotta be f'n shittin me with this BS.

That said, I'm not a Wilder hater (just a hater of insane analysis like that). The fact is, Wilder has beaten 4 top 60ish HW's now. Yes a big step away from Stiverne, but its crazy to me that the same people who lambast Wilder still pump Jennings up, even though Jennings has an incomparably worse resume over a comparable timeframe (only top 60 win was against the shot SL that Wilder smoked in 1 round, not to mention Jennings has struggled against some of the lesser opposition that he has faced).Comment

I agree that he KOs Mitchell with the first jab he lands, but he'll probably hit air for a couple of rounds until he actually lands a punch, even if Mitchell just stands there without blocking or moving his head.
Wilder would probably KO referee, judges and ring side commentators before he hits Mitchell.Last edited by A_Jeffrey; 11-15-2013, 08:34 PM.Comment
