Your standards for a "big star" must be pretty low if you think he's a big star.

Everybody knows that Ward doesn't sell tickets. Everybody knows Ward isn't entertaining -- I'm not even one of his fans...

But Ward talks and acts like he's a big star (for instance, Ward says he doesn't fight that or that opponent because it wouldn't help him become #1 P4P)... The same goes for his promoters and fans...

But let's wait and see the "new" Ward -- maybe the "new" Ward is different...

The issue of actual PED testing of top athletes in professional sports is very complicated because there are no agreed upon rules. The same goes for boxing...

... But sometimes seems hilarious to hear from a particular athlete that he doesn't have to take the tests because it's not stipulated in his contract...

The fact that I was calling him a "big star" doesn't necessary mean that I believe he actually is... I admit I'm not so good in underlying some tongues-in-cheek.

I also find it curious that Ward has been able to do so well, remaining undefeated with a torn rotator cuff. I wouldn't go with the PED theory just yet though. It must have been a very slight tear that only got worse over time and peaked during the fight with Dawson. Ward did throw some heavy punches in that fight. But the more I think about it, how does one remain undefeated and become a boxing champion with a torn rotator cuff? Now that it's repaired, Ward should REALLY be awesome, right?

But you can find the usual suspects talking about how boring he is and having fighters like Pacman or Broner rated higher. You can call Ward, Floyd, B-hop and Rigo as boring as you wanna, doesn't make the exciting popular guy better pfp. (Floyd not included in the last sentence as he is popular, everything else applies though).
To me, a big way the star power of a boxer can be measured is in the PPV draw he is able to generate. If Ward's fight tomorrow night were PPV, chances are the buys would be very low. He's a good technical fighter, but a star?

My sediments exactly. Ward was already a phenomenal fighter WITH that injury so having it repaired, considering the surgery doesn't hinder him at all physically, he should be even better than we've seen him. Might Ward have a gear or two that we haven't seen yet? Exciting to think, but does make you think about some things...
