Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: Groves Has a Shot, But it Won't Be Easy

Andre Ward thinks George Groves will find out whether he is world class in his upcoming clash with Carl Froch.

The American has seen Froch's strengths and weaknesses first-hand, having beaten the British fighter on points in the Super Six final in 2011.

Ward outwitted Froch with his slick skills, but still respects his former foe, who defends his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles against Groves on November 23, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Groves is unbeaten in 19 fights, but steps up to world title level for the first time and Ward believes he is facing an acid test against Froch.

Andre Ward makes a good point. If you beat a tough guy, you then become tough lol.

I don't see where this idea of Groves being some master boxer comes from.

Who has Groves actually outboxed who isn't either shot to pieces or just not very good?

And why do I keep hearing "Groves stuck to a gameplan with Degale, maybe he'll do it with Froch?"

Isn't it of any relevance that Degale is absolutely nothing like Froch? A southpaw who (attempts to be) a defensive counter puncher off the back foot who has very little power? Literally polar opposite to Froch.

Froch has beaten much better and more proven boxers/counter punchers in the likes of Bute, Dirrell, Taylor etc yet the best fighter Groves has outboxed is? Degale? Anderson? Shot Johnson?

ANRDRE WARD is the 2nd best ALL around fighter in Boxing. He is VERY VERY tough as well as very intelligent in that ring. Please don't forget that his fight with FROCH was a virtual shutout. I had it 10-2 Ward at best. He has no competition because he will outthink anyone he fights. The Groves v Froch winner is only interesting if Groves manages to win. BJ Flores

Ward still acting like nobody gave him credit for the Froch win. He's clearly bothered that Froch has more fans.

No one who knows shit about boxing is questioning Ward's toughness or heart. I'm a big fan but statements like this just make him sound bitter.

Froch has a beard, sure. His Rep as a warrior however, is due to taking on all comers. Fact.

Pretty much. I think Groves gets iced/TKO'd.

Only thing that makes me think otherwise is Groves saying he beat Froch up in their second sparring session and Froch didn't argue.

                  But yeah, Froch via stoppage.
