Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Blasts Kisicek, Trumps Fury Result

York Hall, Bethnal Green, London - Top heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua (3-0, 3KOs) stopped Hrvoje Kisicek (5-7, 1KO) in two. Joshua was unloading the punishment in the first round. He dropped Kisicek hard off a combination in the second. Joshua started unloading as he pressed Kisicek against the ropes and the referee jumped in. The fight was stopped a little early, but the writing was on the wall with Kisicek looking outclassed from the first minute.

I don't think direct comparisons are helpful here. Fury has been carrying guys to get rounds.

              Correct, not helpful at all.

It was obvious from the start how this is going to go with Joshua. The gold medallist, with the Sky bandwagon and media hype behind him. He's going to get a leg up every step of the way. Seriously good luck to him, it's not his fault, and he seems like a decent lad.

Hughie has a very good amateur pedigree himself, but he is going to have to do it the hard way. People are turning down fights against him left, right, and centre because he is all risk and little reward at the moment.

love the early stoppages... after the recent events following perez\abdusalamov there could be a few trigger happy referees in HW fights... the English refs already were trigger happy so I bet it will get worse here. this fight was stopped early...

Referees from everywhere are more likely to step in when the fight is such a huge mismatch. The journeymen don't get paid enough to risk permanent damage, even if they don't see this themselves.
