That'd not deceptive marketing, when you say most avoided you mean by ranked contenders. There's always fringe guys and journeyman willing to face anyone (or lay down) for a decent purse, much less for 300k. When you can count say 8 top tenners that passed on GGG offers for inferior opportunities, you might as well market the guy as most avoided cause it's obviously true.
No, there isn't universal agreement. GGG is the most visble MW because HBO is marketing him and giving him a push. That in no way makes his credentials better than quillin's.

HBO can market GGG as they wish, but to call him most avoided than not approve guys who cal him out is deceptive any way you cut it. To have Lampley place him in the top 5 p4p ahead of the lineal MW champ is BS. To try and mke him the man in the division is equally BS. He isn't the Man and other fighters in the top 10 are not pretending he is.

GGG is a very talented fighter. But IMO he is the equivalent of Adrien Broner, albeit far more skilled. Their respective networks are pushing them. Cool. That doesn't mean I have to buy the BS they are selling.

Yeah, the bald-headed fart took the equivalent of a front page ad out on Boxingscene to say "Pederson is going to knock Mathysee the *** out!"

But yh go to the front page, another opponent calling out Golovkin.
That is Froch, Mora & Ouma in the space of two weeks.
oh come on Dan. You'll give ouma the Macklin treatment. Say he had a real chance and he'll repeat what he did last time, then trash him when it ends the same way

I guess it's not quite universal, you got dissenters like you, JLoro and maybe the Quillin family. The easiest way to resolve that would be for Quillin to stop offering excuses and fight the guy finally. They could do it in Monaco, as PQ was willing to travel to the UK for Murray. But that fight lost a lot of appeal since Quillin struggled so much with Rosado, nobody really thinks he has a chance including him for sure.

GGG has no more claim to being sergio's #1 challenger than quillin does. You are entitlted to your opinion.

we know why a fight between the 2 is problematic.

Most posters, including you, thought Matts would easily beat Danny. I "dissented" then. Turns out I was right.

I'd pick GGG to beat quillin as would you. until that fight occurs I maintain they are equally accomplished and GGG has no more claim to the #2 MW than he does.

Yordanis was a very good amatuer, but a big disappointment in the pro's.

I didn't pick Lucas over Garcia nor did I feel strongly either way

Their resumes are close, though GGG's is a little better, having beaten 3 Ring top tenners vs 1 for Quillin. Really the only proven contender either guy beat was Macklin. Then you gotta look at the manner of win, with Quillin struggling in 2 of his last 3 fights and GGG destroying everyone, including Rosado who gave PQ plenty of trouble. Then the last piece of the puzzle is only one of these guys is willing to fight th other, so it's not a tie at all.

WIllingness to make fight is not a quantifiable variable. even if it were it it in no way factors into who is the more legit challenger to Sergio. Manner of win means nothing either. QUillin beating Njam i every bit as impressive as the Macklin win.

Winning tough fights is a good thing, not a bad one.

GGG and Quillin have equal accomplishments and are both undefeated. one is no more worthy than the other as a challenegr to the lineal MW title.
