In retrospect it did fit the times - because it changed the times and found its place. And it aint hype if it can be backed up and it was backed up. The connotation of hype is that reality rarely matches the hype but in this case, it exceeded the reality of the time, Ali was surreal.

Backing up hype doesn't negate what is, as defined above. "It's gonna be a chilla and a killa and a thrilla when I get the gorilla in Manila"- Muhammad Ali. This is clearly hyperbole, or "hype". Calling Joe a gorilla made it tasteless hype. It also damaged their friendship. Ali won when Frazier's corner called the fight off, but he was very close to quitting himself. Both men were hurt badly in that war. Ali himself admitted that such scathing words as those said before that fight and calling Frazier "Uncle Tom" and "White man's champion" were meant to promote their fights. We know Frazier in fact helped Ali get his boxing license back, and even gave him money while he was banned for not going to 'Nam. http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Mu...r_(3rd_meeting). Yet Ali "hyped" their fights by creating the image that they were enemies. I acknowledge Ali for his boxing skills, but he could have left that ignorant trash-talking at home. As for the times, it was not long after the Civil Rights Movement. One black man insulting another black man by suggesting that he is an ape and unintelligent to promote a fight? Shameful then and always.Comment

It takes MARQUEZ four fight to KO Pacman ,and FLOYD want his health first. Do you think RIOS will KO Pacman..tsk tsk tsk . Feel sorry for RIOS already...Comment

Manny fan here but I honestly don't see PAC knocking rios out, if anything PAC will get a late tko. If PAC wins it's going to be a decision or tko and if rios wins it's gonna be by ko. I don't see rios getting the decision over PAC and I don't think roach nor the ref is gonna stop the fight in favor for rios. Brandon will have to ko PAC to win.Comment

I thought pac's stamina was way better before ariza, just take a look at his fights in the lower weight.Comment
