Comments Thread For: Koncz: If Pacquiao Follows Plan, Rios Gets KO'd in Five

Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KOs) believes the best way to bring inspiration and hope to the victims of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan in his native Philippines is to win his comeback fight against Brandon Rios on November 23rd in Macau, China. Pacquiao returns from back to back defeats to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, and a near one year layoff after suffering the sixth round knockout to Marquez.

Rios will swell up and bleed like crazy and he is going to look like a maniac coming forward, smiling and throwing desperately to try and get Pacquiao. It will be a sick fight in every sense of the word. I believe Pacquiao will win this war but it will be a very exciting fight for as long as it lasts. Bam Bam might land some flush bombs too which is going to be interesting to see.

I really hate the post-ali era of predictions. Ali was special and he personified predications but even he was not perfect in that way but it fit the times and the flamboyant character that Ali was. The only reason why anyone predicts rounds or when a fight will end in this era is pure media hype. Just concentrate on the win, for *** sake!

I could see a TKO, but late in the fight.
I'm interested to see how Pacquiao comes to the fight without Ariza in his corner.
Will he have the same amazing stamina he did when he had Ariza with him?

Ali's loud, raucous carrying-on did not fit the times. He was the first of his kind and raised quite a stir in the media. You don't believe his trash-talking to Howard Cosell and other interviewers about his upcoming opponents was media hype? Of course it was! They called him "the mouth of the south", because he talked major trash. For Ali, it not only created a media spectacle which made him infamous, but also got inside the heads of his opponents. He was a great fighter, but he was also an arrogant, insulting man. The types of predictions we hear today pale in comparison to Ali's.

In retrospect it did fit the times - because it changed the times and found its place. And it aint hype if it can be backed up and it was backed up. The connotation of hype is that reality rarely matches the hype but in this case, it exceeded the reality of the time, Ali was surreal.
