Salido's a proven professional veteran, Lomachenko is one of the finest fighters to ever come outta the ams. I said already in this thread I think Loma's takin' one hell of a risk, but how can any boxing fan not be intrigued and excited by this matchup.

Nothing bad for boxing happening here, all good. How often do we see a young contender willing to risk it all - and there is no doubt that it was Lomachenko who forced this as a condition of his signing. We all complain about fighters not testing themselves, so now, let's see it happen.

I ain't usually a big follower of the little fighters, but this has edge of seat written all over it.

Hardly any up and comers want that huge risk. I mean many are unprepared to step up after 15-20 bouts.

No question that an affiliation with a major promoting outfit and drawing power has a lot to do with it. But let's not act like sanctioning body's rankings matter. They don't.

Lomenchenko is not a run-of-the-mill up-and-comer. But I agree. The next time a guy comes up who has dominated the amateur field for 5 years with 400 fights, 2 gold medals, 3 Amateur championships and is refused a title fight after having proven his worth by taking care of ranked, seasoned professional then I will join you in saying that he isn't getting the treatment he deserves.

Lomenchenko has proven himself; he has paid his dues. I think it's foolish to go for a title on the 2nd fight, he should give himself a few more fights to get used to the distance and the experience - but it's not as if he's a 19 yr old guy who just won the Golden Gloves and now wants a shot.
