It will never happen. Ward will not leave the US so forget it.

Any Chance of Ward/Froch II in 2014?

@ Soul Survivor..... you are right, the fight is possible and as you correctly mention Froch has consistently wanted to rematch Ward and some of the comments about ducking are plain wrong/inaccurate.
When Froch lost to Kessler that's all he talked about, he wanted to reverse the decision and face MK again. Carl is just built that way and he has the confidence in his ability to change his gameplan and style; in short he backs himself to fix things and has the cojones to get back in there with Ward.
My big concern is actually Ward. He's not a ducker either in my opinion but he's a seriously solid bloke and I am fairly sure he campaigns at LHW from here on in and Stevenson and Kovalev will be his next dance partners. Maybe Chavez as well who seems to walk around as a cruiserweight these days.
There's also the added and very pertinent factor that Froch-Ward 1 was hardly a classic...in fact, it was borderline dull. So it is not an easy fight to sell despite the exulted records of both guys. That could be the biggest stumbling block of all.

I think it could happen. But with Golovkin on the rise, and the winner of Kovalev vs. Stevenson bound for stardom, there are other fights to be made. Froch has done enough already in my eyes to deserve a rematch with Ward, but honestly it's not all that important that he gets that fight at this point. He can have entertaining scraps with some very solid SMWs and carve out a HOF legacy even without avenging that defeat.

Now all these claims about Froch running from Ward is ridiculous, rarely have I heard anyone call out a champion in the last few years as much as Froch has with regards to Ward.
As for Froch's legacy, I think he already has enough to be in the HOF, seriously, his list of opponents is ridiculously good, second to none over the last decade but beating Ward could push him into the great zone. Only two super middleweights have done that, Calzaghe and Eubank.
Fights between Froch/Ward and guys like GGG, Kovalev and Stevenson are huge but I doubt Froch moves up and if GGG has to choose, I'm betting he'd pick to fight Ward for HBO dollars rather than Froch. Kovalev v Ward doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon. Chavez looks like he'll be next for Ward, which is quite sad really.

I think there's a very good chance of it happening. Froch has beaten some of the fighters Ward probably would have liked to fight, and if Golovkin were to move up and fight Froch and Froch wins, that leaves only the Cobra for Ward. The interest would certainly be there.

Froch has got Chavez JR, Stieglitz, and Golovkin on his radar.
Ward can stick to his clubfights with 15 people at the weigh in and 500 at the fight, maybe 1000 if they can successfully give away the tickets for free.
