Serious question... how did Golovkin's popularity rise so fast?

Maybe, word of mouth. I really can't explain how GGG's name got so highly regarded, so fast, without any name opponents.

1.5 million viewers ain't no joke.

I guess fighting often yields results. Fought on HBO four times in little over a year and 4 times this year

Not really. Kovalev is a better comparison with Golovkin.

It does seem like GG is the more popular of the two.

I'm wondering what the Kazakh population in the u.s too. He had a decent amount of people show up for this fight and he might've grabbed the attention of the ones living here to start watching on HBO

He was featured on the 2 days also and I heard it got a great reception. Maybe the public identifies with a clean cut respectable guy that just happens to be a master boxer that has killer instinct.

At least that why I like to watch him fight.

Read the posts on this site. Anybody can be hated. But my guess is probably because of his fan base.

Yea... but I'm thinking like casuals. THe haters here make up a very small base....Frank Ducketts probably tells his friends to tune in to watch Golovkin get KO'd

I honestly didn't even know there was a Kazakh poluation in the US.

True. Other than Borat, no one's really putting Kazakh on the map. LOL.
