Golovkin himself admitted there is almost zero professional boxing in the post-Soviet Union countries, including Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He said the fundamentals (i.e. ams) are great and really developed, but specific professional training is lacking, that's why he went to Germany first. Moreover, he even admitted that pro training in the US is better than in Germany, that's why he went to the US to train with Abel - with various fighting styles American/Mexican he could learn more and more consistently than in Germany.

So I think it's a bit pointless to argue who are the best - Eastern Europeans or Americans. GGG is a product of all influences and that makes him special. He wouldn't be GGG today without any of those schools.

Dude nobody is talking about any of this and this isn't the topic (off topic) of discussion. Read the post right before yours and then come back and reply...

I can't really blame Mayweather for not wanting to fight GGG even at 154. His natural weight is 147. So it's like Gennady not being too keen on fighting Kovalev or Bhop at 168.

As for the guys at 160, yeah they are all pretty much ducking him one way or the other.

Lets not forget Murray fought Sturm in his home town he fought Martinez in his home town of Argentina, An Englishman in Argentina fighting the nations hero is about as hostile environment as you will ever get, If he wasn't afraid to fight and in my opinion beat Martinez the lineal champion the best of the best I doubt he's afraid of Golovkin.

dude...............soviets have been able to go pro for about 22 years now (& still not one ATG) even hopkins is greater then anything from the nation of eastern europe (& he's been fighting around the same time the nation gained independence)

not saying that a fighter from eastern europe can't be talented but it obviously lacks a decent history on a professional end (just talking the last 20 years)

in the last 20 years theres sprouted a small group of ATG's from america. I can't think of a single one for eastern europe.

I can agree with you on that,if he had said 30 yrs then he would have a better argument..but he is rite when itvcomes down to european atg..you could mention one name that might be recognized as an atg in sum peoples eyes and that would be sven ottke..
