Not exactly sure of the precise situation, but it ain't that Murray can't fight in the US, more that he needs a specific date and plenty of time to be assured of getting his P1 visa in time for the fight. The issue with the JCC jr fight was that (due to Murray not realising how his past would impact on getting a visa) Arum couldn't be sure Murray would get his visa in time and didn't want to risk wasting the date.

I can see how HBO would prefer the Murray fight in the US, but it is disappointing nonetheless, 'cos it essentially means another second tier opponent for GGG in Feb. Truax, Vera, Mora, Lee (-Rubio would be OK 'cept I don't see him risking his Mando spot with Sergio) would be about the best available unless it's a 168 fight.

Time still might not be a guarantee though from what I've seen. If you've got a criminal history, they can outright reject you.

Golovkin's team should snatch up Geale since he's now beltless unless he's waiting on the Barker/Sturm situation or also looking at a Soliman fight.

Murray and Golovkin fighting on the same care is a very big sign saying "This Fight Happens Next!". It's happened plenty of times before in the past and is a common method of promoting a future bout. My only worry is that both men will face subpar opposition.

I've been very disappointed in Golovkin fighting the likes of Stevens when names such as N'Dam, Mora and Vera are available opponents at the weight.

I used to be disappointed as well, but changed my opinion of Stevens after the fight. I don't think any of those three mentioned by you can beat such a motivated Stevens easily.

Vera wasn't a possiblity for the last date, and I think Mora may have been considered but Stevens was favoured for commercial reasons (his KOs + a Brooklyn kid). Donno what's going on with NDNJ tho, - hasn't fought for over a year now since the Kid C loss.

I'm hoping for Mora, Vera, Truax, Lee level fight for GGG in Feb (though I gues there's also the possibility of a SMW) which is a little disappointing, but hopefully Murray in summer.

Or maybe they're all just bull****ing and they're waiting to make a proper surprise announcement for Golovkin vs Muray after Murray's next fight.
I think it might be the latter. As you say, the WBA have ordered the fight, Murray says he's fighting on Monte Carlo on the same night. It would be kind of ridiculous if they're not fighting each other.

A stay busy fight and then a "show case" right after on the Golovkin card? No tune up fight?

If they do go in another direction I'm guessing it could be Andy Lee since he publicly said he would take the fight.

If it's against the next opponent in the WBA rankings, Geale is a possibility.

                    Why isn't this fight happening?

Even if I am wrong, it doesn't seem like people want to fight GGG.

Murray doesn't want to fight GGG says Hermann

GGG's promoter Oleg Hermann says Murray doesn't want to fight GGG. No part of him. Even it's mandatory.
                      Isn' it pure duck?
