People need to give these up and comers a break (like Broner, Canelo)

Honestly Broner gets a lot of hate on here, and I used to find him annoying, but now I find him f*****g hilarious, Broner is great for boxing, he's got a genuine sense of humor and wit about him that is rare in boxing today, what you see is what you get with Broner, unlike Mayweather who is a pretender with the ''Uh, um, Floyd Mayweather is just a character, I give to the poor look how nice I am everyone, quick film me handing out sandwiches to the homeless''. Broner's confidence is admirable, for a early twenties boxer to come into the ring dancing humorously, cool as a cucumber is just awesome imo. And he's a pretty good rapper by today's standards.

Also yes he has had iffy performances so what? The alleged losses were close fights that could have gone either way, he's a flawed fighter at this point but he's around 6 years from his prime, he's a work in progress.

Canelo also gets a lot of hate on here but I don't see why, he's 23 years old ffs and has shown tremendous potential and has a great style and technique, sure he has flaws but he's 7 years away from peaking. Yeah he got schooled against Mayweather but every young fighter would get schooled by the chess master, also the weight effected him more than people make out imo.

Honestly man, Broner and Canelo are the future, Victor Ortiz will be leading the way but these two up and comers are very good fighters, people need to stop being so harsh on them. They're far from their peak.

He was like 22 in that fight. Ortiz isn't even in his prime yet. He'll be the face of boxing in a few years once Floyd and Manny retire.

The problem with Ortiz is he just keep losing. He's 1-1-3 vs top ten level comp, with the only win coming at a CW he requested. That's a journeyman type record, yet he keeps getting good opportunities.

Broner's a good talent, yet already had 2 hometown decisions to no hopers. As a Floyd copycat that's pretty jank.

It's not that Canelo got schooled after all the hype, it's how meekly he went out. It's like he didn't try to impose his size fearing he'd get knocked down/out and embarrassed even worse. No heart, iffy chin, low workrate, it's amazing he's Mexico's most popular fighter.

I mean if people would stop worrying about what fighters did outside the ring then this wouldn't matter. Of course Broner has his flaws, especially against movement but Broner throws combinations with mean intentions and is always looking for the knock out, I thought that's what people liked

Canelo in no way "dominated" trout in that fight. Canelo won a close decision... there was no domination. It made it easier to sell to the public for the floyd fight by just showing the same KD over and over and over again without saying what REALLY happened in that fight. Real fight fans knew Canelo stood no chance to the master.

That being said canelo will continue to improve....with floyd gone I still think he's #1 at 154 lbs.

honestly the Trout fight was about even. But I give it to Canelo because the open scoring probably made Canelo feel it was OK to coast in the later rounds.
And even though the TS thinks Victor Ortiz is the future of boxing which is laughable frankly, he's right about cutting these young guys some slack. A common argument made, although it bears repeating, is that it's not the fighters themselves we dislike, it's the promotional hype machines surrounding these untested young boxers. If Broner wasn't in Ring Magazine's P4P top ten, a distinction he clearly does not deserve and probably still won't even if he gets past Maidana, he'd be much better liked. If Canelo wasn't being touted as the next De La Hoya with the biggest name on his resume being Austin Trout, people would respect him as a strong and accurate puncher who could make for some interesting fights down the road. If we block out what other people are saying and just look at the fighters themselves, there's a lot to like.

People choose to hate on certain fighters and most of the time it isn't even about what they do in the ring.

Canelo won the fight but he didn't dominate, Trout is a good fighter but he clearly won, landing the cleaner more powerful punches, that is a good win for the then 22 year old Canelo.
