Jermain Taylor is a perfect example for people who deny greatness through lack of a win over an ATG. He has a (close) win over Bernard Hopkins, his first loss in 12 years, denying him his 21st defence. He then has another (controversial) win over Bernard Hopkins handing him his first (and only) back to back losses. These wins (on paper at least) are almost unparalleled in recent years, but a very short and uneventful term as middleweight king make him unworthy of a hof place. Knockout losses against Kelly Pavlik, Carl froch (in a fight he was winning after dropping the cobra) and Arthur Aberaham greatly diminish his claim to greatness. Two close/controversial wins over an ATG shouldn't be enough to warrant HOF induction, but with Arturo Gatti inducted who knows.
This raises the question, what is more impressive,
wins over an ATG but a short reign e.g. Jermain Taylor
Or
A long reign over tough contenders but no wins over prime (age or weight) ATGs e.g. Bernard Hopkins midleweight runComment

Jermain Taylor should be. Specially if someone like Gatti & others with **** resumes got in. Taylor's resume isn't all that bad. He just had some brutal losses.Comment

Oh wow. The only two who can possibly make it as fighters are Danny and Rigo. I don't think Danny will, but I believe Rigo will do it. It's just simply too early for those two though. Taylor could have, but he probably won't now, so what he could have done doesn't matter. Paulie might make it as a commentator one day, but who the **** knows? Not to be a ****, but this isn't a very good list.
Edit: With Taylor being undisputed MW champ and having been the man to dethrone Hopkins he might be borderline, very borderline. I still have doubts he will make it, but he is the only one as of right now who has a chance. Like I said, this isn't the worst list I've seen, but still not very good.Last edited by KingTito; 11-07-2013, 03:45 PM.Comment

True, but he'll rack up wins and go on undefeated I suppose.
That's gotta mean something. Being recognized as THE 122 lb. fighter of our generation.Comment
