Yep, Wlad could barely stand upright BEFORE he was hit with anything in that final round. Nobody knows what happened to him, but it certainly wasn't as simple as "Brewster knocked him out." Everyone knows that, even Wlad's biggest haters.
My opinion is that he threw too many punches and just was never relaxed and his body was not recuperating from his punch output and it eventually caught up with him. He seemed awkward from the very first round, and throwing an INSANE amount of power shots with no rest in between, and in a very nervous and forced manner. It really had very little to do with Brewster, other than Brewster has a killer chin and because of that he certainly deserves credit for that win- he and Peter are probably the only current HW's who would even be standing in the 5th round after taking that punishment. But Wlad wasn't "hurt" to the head at the end- he just could not breathe. Watch the fight aftermath, he can barely speak in between breaths in his corner. He was just utterly exhausted in a very, very unnatural way. ...which is why that fight will be debated forever.
Its good to see that someone with sense posting about this, but I dont think he punched himself out. It seems like it was anxiety.

Good post!
If only Wlad can learn to hit an opponent WHEN they're on the WAY DOWN, then he'll be more lethal.

What a load of non sense.
Wlad was winning round 5 until two very big left hooks changed the fight around. Pop that tape in and watch the fight agian. He was jabbing and moving well in the 5th right up until these shots landed:
Suggesting he "could barely stand upright BEFORE he was hit with anything in that final round" is assinine.
There's nothing like Nautilis making a "Where's Wlad" thread (when he knows the answer better than anyone else) to bring out a bunch of Nut Huggers that haven't posted in ages.
And it takes what? Three days before people are crying about his LOSS to Brewster?
Get over it people. He blew his wad in that fight, and got stopped. The hungrier better condition fighter walked through some punishment and stopped Wlad. There's no excuse, no foul play, and no "If"s about it.

he could barely stand on his feet before those hooks connected...

Sure he couldn't you little sack licker.
That's why he threw almost 40 punches in the 1st two minutes of that round.
Watch the fight again.
He was fighting well in the first two minutes of that round. Brewster turned the fight around with those hooks, saw he had a hurt opponent, and didn't relent until it was stopped.
Suck it up, and move on. The very fact this "Where's Wlad" thread ended up in this same old crying about this fight shows how the collective feelings of many of you are still stinging from it.
