Wouldn't it be great if most boxers fought 4 times a year? I had great fun watching Golovkin all this year. I don't know why don't boxers do more fights per year? More money to them right?

Ideally a minimum of 4 times a year .I don't know if the networks could afford to pay them. Specially the elite fighters who won't be making as Much if they fought more frequently. GGG is underpaid I'm not sure if he's ever made a million in a fight once top fighter start getting paid they don't have to fight as often.Comment

you really dont understand why fighters dont fight more than twice once they reach a certain level?Comment

3 should be the minimum.
I dont see a problem with 4 or 5 and having 1-2 of those being stay busy fights against a little easier opponents.Comment

no
you can't promote four ppv fights a year. it really only works for 2 at the very top of ppv.
HBO / showtime fighters can fight thrice, though. i've got no beef with that.
there are some issues, though. guys hurt their hands all the time. after a rough fight you need to take a break from taking punishment to the head. it's the only way you heal. the older guys might not be able to fight more than twice a year. sometimes guys need close to a full year off or more.
guys used to fight all the time. they took soft touches constantly, though. go through roberto duran's early resume, for example. he'd defend his title at 135, and take several "stay busy" fights around or above the limit in between. that's how he spent almost all of the 70's, where he cemented a resume as the greatest lightweight ever along with benny leonard.Last edited by New England; 11-05-2013, 04:06 PM.Comment

3-4 would be great. Donaire, Golovkin, and Klitschko do it, and in my opinion it's the activity that's made Golovkin rise so fast here in America. Dude is from Borat Land and people were cheering his name in Brooklyn!
Thing is, networks don't have the budget to let everyone fight four times even if they wanted to. Back in the day, a fighter would be on HBO and then on USA or ESPN or KOTV a few times before his next HBO or Showtime date, but these days promoters are too afraid of risking the big date to let their fighter fight a tuneup in a small event.Comment

No. Why? Nowadays boxers are hitting way less than 100 fights before they retire. SRR has over 100 fights I think, he's a GOAT. So what your point that have to 'reach certain levels'.Comment
