It's absolutely correct [that Rubio is the mandatory]. But there is always something that can be done at the negotiating table. [Rubio being the mandatory challenger] does not mean that there are no solutions. In boxing there are always solutions," Lewkowicz told Jose Sanchez.
I'm conufused. That Sampson quote is originally from an ESPN interview by Carlos Narváez. The author of this boxingscene article is Miguel Rivera and who the hell is Jose Sanchez?

Due to the WBC violating their contract by not testing Chavez, Rubio had to be reinstated to where he was ranked before the Chavez fight, which was #2. With Chavez leaving the division, he is now #1. Sergio had an option to take an interim fight as long as it was before sept 15t, so now he must face Rubio. The WBC lost this battle in court, so i think the only way Sergio can fight cotto is by paying Rubio off. Either way rubio will receive big money!

Ironically, Rubio will probably earn more being paid to step aside than he would have got as challenger. Plus he'll probably get a contract guaranteeing him another shot (and payday) in the winner's first defence.

            So next year its:

            Martinez vs. Cotto on 6/7..

            If he wins:

I wonder if Rubio can get a sizable Mexican audience to begin with.

Rubio is like Tony Thompson.. All those title shots and nothing to show for it. No more title shots!
