He's got a lot more to prove, but the kid is skilled. With the modern greats retiring soon, I don't see why Keith wouldn't be elite at 47 with Pacquiao, Cotto, Mayweather out of the picture. At 54, I wouldn't favor him against Trout, Canelo or Lara, but Keith is a tough challenge for Tim, Adriean and Devon. He could definitely be an elite Welter in the coming years.
Keith Thurman is one of the most ordinary, overrated fighters I have ever seen. He's not more skilled than Maidana, has a very poor jab, is extremely predictable, throws the same ordinary punches after a predictable rhythm where he squares his feet. Honestly I don't see what everyone else seems to be seeing. His hand speed and power is good but I just don't see much versatility and the ability to adjust that others do.

There is a reason for that.

Thurman is way overhyped and people need to calm down. He's not very good, he's a face first brawler and his only attribute is his power.

Not sure to be honest, Maidana has better power but he might be too small for Thurman.
