Would you be happy with Perez vs Wlad?

Every one of those fighters has done more than Perez by quite a bit.Well, if you fight guys like Mormeck, Wach, Charr, Briggs, Rahman, Sosnowski etc etc - the list actually goes on and on - then you can't expect sympathy from the fans. these guys are not 'credible' fighters they are either bums, has-beens or never-was. Some are both and a few managed to be all three.
Because your nuthuggertry and your blatant bias and ass-kissing is awful.
If you think he deserves a shot based on how he fights visually, so be it. I think he does too, so just say that. It's a shallow ass way to rank somebody but so be it. I do think he is massively talented, but, I gaurantee if you put him in with Wach, Solis or Charr in his next fight, he would get steam rolled. Mago, for all his heart was a **** boxer and was wide open for a technical fightter like Perez.Comment

I don't think Wlad will get much respect vs guys who are not somewhat proven household names. Not that it means they are of Tyson/Ali level of notoriety. But at least like Haye who had built up some clout at CW and HW. Or even fighters who built up enough general public hype. Right now I think someone like Perez and Wilder would fall under the category of seeming like a challenger, but being too green for the big spotlight.
Wlad obviously doesn't have a rival looked to be on par with him in talent and credentials (Manny/Money, Barrera/Morales) to help him from a Boxing legacy standpoint. So his perception is based on his opposition having some hype and coming off a notable win or having some credentials to back himself up. Longevity vs those kinds of guys are Wlad's best friend for his legacy.
Perez looks good, but he needs to beat another name for it to even sell. I think Fury beating Haye would put Fury in that category as a notable challenger. Or Wilder beating Fury/Arreola for the public to take interest. Wilder has the advantage of being an American olympian with height and power.Last edited by TyrantT316; 11-04-2013, 11:36 AM.Comment

What did Helenius, Solis and Wilder do to deserve it more? Solis has only fought bums after Vitali and is in verry poor shape, Helenius did nothing recently and Wilder has beaten NO ONE of note!Which credible opponents are you talking about?
I like Mike Perez, he's a good fighter. But he's not top 15 at all and doesn't deserve the fight before guys like Arreola, Haye, Fury, Helenius, Solis, Chisora, Wilder, Pulev etc.
But it's a way better fight than Pianeta. How way? Way way.Comment

HW fights are about capturing the public's imagination. Unfortunately Wlad doesn't have a TRUE legacy type of rival. A guy with similar credentials and talent. So the public will be interested in guys who are coming off of a notable hot win or two. I think the only fights that will generate interest are:
vs Wilder - after Wilder spectacularly wins vs someone like Fury or Arreola
vs Perez - after Perez impresses vs someone like Fury, Arreola, or Haye
vs Fury - after Fury impresses vs someone like Haye and Perez
guys like Helenius, Charr and Solis have "been around" but have struggled with either losses or looking unimpressive. It's about making people believe someone has a shot. Helenius doesn't make me believe that. He had a hot 2011 with the Peter KO, but since then hasn't been impressive and lost steam. Charr lost to Vitali and hasn't had any sort of NOTABLE win since then. Solis can't hold onto his gold metals as his selling point anymore after disappointing vs Vitali and hasn't had a NOTABLE win since then. Racking up 2-4 wins vs no namers doesn't capture the public's attention.
Knockouts vs the Arreolas, Hayes, Furys etc do. As much as I don't like him, Fury is leading the pack due to his size, mouth, undefeated record and possible a win over Haye. Wilder has an advantage being American, a KO artist and undefeated, but lacks the quality. Haye has the best credentials, but already stunk it up vs Wlad. Perez may simply be the best of the bunch in talent, but the public doesn't really know him which would reduce any significance for Wlad beating him.Last edited by TyrantT316; 11-04-2013, 11:48 AM.Comment
