Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Trainer: Quillin Hiding Behind Network Veil

Abel Sanchez, the trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25KOs), does not believe Peter Quillin (30-0, 22KOs), the undefeated WBO middleweight king, will ever face them in a unification showdown. Quillin says he wants Golovkin but the network war between Showtime and HBO will prevent the fight from happening. Sanchez does not believe that would stop the fight, stating that Quillin often calls for a fight with WBC champion Sergio Martinez, who fights on the HBO stage like Golovkin.

Abel made a valid point there. U can't call out 1 HBO fighter then use the excuse of a network war when it comes to facing another HBO fighter. Quillin knows GGG is bad for his health. If Rosado had quillin backing up all night imagine golovkin!

Why keep talking about Quillin tho, it's obvious he's never going to fight. Wasted breath, and it actually gives him exposure he doesn't necessarily deserve.

Quillin vs GGG would be a great fight. Its a toss up. I guarantee you that GGG wouldn't walk through Quillin the way he did Stevens. Golovkin can't fight going backwards. The few times Stevens got aggressive, he was successful. Quillin has the ability and skill to seriously test GGG.

Belt holders: Martinez (WBC and Ring), Barker (IBF), and Quillin (WBO).
If he calls Barker in Monte Carlo is it OK?

... You better ask Quillin what he thinks... I'm sure he's ready and willing.

Barker is contractually locked into a fight with Sturm and a fight with Geale if he wins. So it's also waste of breath until at least late 2014.

He should call out Martinez and Murray. They're likely the two best 'other' fighters in the division anyway.

Even if that were true Quillin cannot fight going forwards so its irrelevant and he was getting the worst of the action whenever Rosado pressured him. If he could not deal with pressure from Rosado how do you imagine he will deal with Golovkin's?

Golovkin would crack the Quillin glass, Rosado had him ready to go in the 5th.
