Been reading more on this...does anybody know exactly what stable condition means considering his injuries were bad enough to be put into a medically induced coma?

From my understanding, medically induced comas are done when someone has sustained brain damage that's caused swelling or bleeding. If that's the case, I can't recall too many instances where a boxer in this situation came out of it.

Almost any patient in a coma will be in "stable" condition...but that is far from them being in good shape.

According to Dan Rafael, he has had brain surgery to remove the cloth. The surgeons also removed part of his skull to allow relieve the swelling of his brain.

It does look serious. I totally agree that his health comes first.

Yeah i read that too i thought he got his nose broken early in the fight but the hand later on but he kept throwing it regardless broke it on Perez's face wouldn't surprised me they both hit each other like mad men. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

I just watched the fight again and of course hindsight is 20\20 but if I was in Mago's corner I would not have stopped the fight either, yes the swelling on his face was bad but there has been much worse (Hasim Rahman vs Holyfield) and Mago is a puncher and was firing big shots until the 10th when Perez almost dropped him with the jab.

If it was a 12 round fight I would have stopped it after the 10th for sure but before the 10th I would not have.

In any case unfortunately death and serious injury is a part of this game we all love, that is why very few men answer the bell to fight.

            Get well soon Warrior

No way Magomed gets cleared to fight in the U.S. again. Remember Joe Messi?

Heard about this earlier today and it has bothered me all day. Been praying for Magomed all day since hearing about it. Can't believe the punishment he took in there and just wouldn't stop fighting. Guy has one hell of a fighting spirit, but it looks like just that may have been his undoing. That was just a brutal fight. I pray to God that Magomed recovers from this fully. To hell with his boxing career. I just want him healthy.

                  '

"stable" probably means that his vitals have stabilized.

frankly, boxingscene is not fit to cover things like this, and you're best heading elsewhere for news.

I hope he fully recovers, but does anyone thinks this will make Mike gunshy?

It really depends on the person. It certainly didn't stop Sergey Kovalev when a fellow Russian countryman and boxer he faced died after their match. Hopefully Mike Perez can stay busy in the gym and get another fight lined up to keep his mind occupied on boxing.
