Russian puncher Magomed Abdusalamov (18-1, 18KOs) suffered numerous injuries during his ten round decision loss to Cuba's Mike Perez (20-0, 12KOs) at the Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden. There were plenty of power punches thrown and landed by both fighters in their HBO televised showcase, but Perez racked up the points to win on scores of 97-92, 95-94 and 97-92. That fight should had been stopped. He is a damn good prospect and took a beating that can affect him the rest of his career. He always had the punchers chance but with a broken left had most of it was taken away.

Wow, Perez seems like a powerful guy. I tuned in during the last round of the fight so I'll have to go back and watch the entire fight and see where Perez began busting him up.

I hope he is ok he took ALOT of powerful shots and kept coming until the end i think if he broke the left was by the end when he was backing up trying to keep Perez off him swinging for the fences probably broke it on Perez's face XD. But a clot in the brain is no joke i hope he is ok he has some balls HW division needs guys like those two.

Brutal. Got to wonder if Magomed will continue or hang em up. He definitely needs to spend more time with JDJ to work on his defense if he's going to continue.

The córner with so much experience allowed him to continue after the 4 or 5 round when he said in his language that his face was wrong. That was a sign to stop the fight . Now with a bloodchloth hummmm I think they should retired him prior to another death in boxing.

Wow, I originally thought to myself that Perez would win TKO 5 and it seems like that definitely could have happened. I later switched my prediction to Perez by decision. I really need to watch the fight now.

Last night, some guys here were scoffing at the idea of stopping the fight: "This is pro boxing." This is the aftermath of the fight for Magomed. It was a brutal contest, one that might alter Mago's career, and, indeed, his life. So now he's known as a tough SOB by a few guys that aren't concerned about his life in any way. Big deal. I hope Magomed recovers 100%. He's a warrior. He needs someone to look out for him.

I love Mago's words after the fight: "In the first round, I hit his head with my left hand, and after that I couldn't make a fist and I couldn't operate with my left like I wanted to," he said. "But a champ is a champ, and he was a great champion tonight."

I hope people dont use it as an excuse why Mago lost the fight. This just happens when you got such a bad defense as Mago has. It was a good fight and im happy that Perez won. I just hope loses a few pounds and improve his fitness.
What did Perez say after the fight? i have not seen the interview.
