Alot of boxers talk sht. Some way worse like floyd broner and mayorga. Its part of the game. Had he talk sht about his family or something i would understand the hate
Name another fighter in any combat sport that made a mock funeral for their opponent. Stevens took it to another level then didn't back up his words, got a horrible beating, and quit. His false bravado was an attempt to hide his fear and cowardice.
He took a beating, but he never stopped fighting and responded after the knockdown by going at Golovkin and landing some big punches. He had moments of success that suggest he could contend at middleweight far beyond what was expected of him.
... GGG toyed with Stevens -- in order to test himself and check his own performance, Golovkin needs public sparring... I didn't see Golovkin in trouble (or out of control) at any point of the fight...
I know NYC always have fighters tearing dudes up in the Amateurs....just hope the savior will arrive soon
Not really unfortunately, there aren't any killers in the NYC amateur boxing game right now...Olympian Marcus Browne was the last one you could say was really in control and we've seen him lose it mentally on the big stage...
I give Curtis a lotta credit tonight though, he was a man of his word and went toe to toe with GGG, he didn't throw a lot but thatz due to him trying to land counters and catch GGG with something sneaky but I knew that wouldn't really happen...
Curtis does look foolish talkin all that talk and then getting beating half to death but you can't question his heart, and he's a player at 160...I give him a damn good chance to beat Peter Quillin, and other contenders...
And idk why people are saying he quit on his stool, his corner threw in the towel, Curtis ain't quitting, he didn't go down from that brutal beating at the end of the round...

He wasn't ever in trouble, and I'm not claiming he was. Just that Stevens fought back well after the KD.

Good Boy
Bad taste is so overrated that it doesn't worth mentioning it...
this is why canelo and chavez jr keeps ducking him. he gave alvared a beating in sparring with the head gear.
Weere you impressed with him? Stevens covered up and landed a few shots, kinda like how Abraham relied on his defence and power shots. It doesn't work against guys who can take power, and usually that's funnelled down to the top of the tree.
