    cotto vs martinez at 157

There's a puerto rican boxing page on fb that is saying cotto vs martinez have agreed to the weight and possibly location only money is left. They are saying 157 is the agreed weight

Sweet, make it happen. Time for Martinez to show the world that he is still the man. I like Cotto but he is getting hurt in this fight

assuming Martinez can make that weight comfortably, easy win
so Cotto got a comeback win, big deal, he's still finished
MW is suicide for him, he's not even a real JMW
Martinez is about done too, but has more left than Cotto
Cotto always been chinny, Martinez would end him for good

I'm happy for the fight to be made (if it is) and look forward to watching it, although the outcome is ultimately simply dependent on what Maravilla has left. If he's still got 80% of 2011-12 then he wins, if he's faded more than that, it's up in the air (and I'm a big fan of Cotto also).

If Cotto were to win however, I ain't about to acknowledge he's the MW lineal champ, whatever anyone says, unless he wins at 160.

          agree

beat the champ at his weight if you want his titles

Are we going to start this again? Divisions are weight ranges. MW is anything from 155-160 for crying out loud. If Martinez is ****** enough to drain himself 5lbs for the sake of money acquiescing to the challenger then that's on his dumb ass. It's still a legit MW fight if it happens. Regardless of you "think" the winner IS the lineal MW Champ.

Why the catchweight though? Just fight the champ at the limit. man this is getting annoying as hell and we know sergio will do it too

You are right about weight ranges, catchweights limit these ranges and therefore it's not the 160 division anymore. Cotto should come in at 157 if he wants, Martinez comes in whatever he wants. This is to make sure Lineal Champions are actually the best in the weight range, not the best at a limit

With the way Martinez looked vs Murray I'm picking Cotto.

And I'm not trolling when I say that Chavez Jr destroyed Martinez's punch resistance. I think age plus that beating that Martinez took ruined him.

Cotto got this... as for the weight... If martinez signed the contract is his damn fault... same thing goes for Cotto when he fought Pac at 145 pounds, you agreed to it, deal with it.
