Martinez will be healthy and motivated for this one. Probably come in great shape since he has to make 157.
If his hands and legs are decent Cotto will regret not fighting Canelo first

If Martinez agrees to 157, then that's on him. I'm not sure what to think about this fight though. Cotto is without a doubt my favorite fighter, but this makes me nervous. I've never liked the thought of Cotto fighting at MW (or even at JMW to be honest) and especially not against Martinez. I think a lot of it has to do with how much Martinez has left.

Cotto has problems with bigger bodies putting pressure on him. Sergio isnt that type of fighter and will just stay on the outside and try to pick Cotto apart. If Sergio wins it will be like the Trout fight but it seems like Freddy has changed Cottos bad ways and made him a lot more agressive with throwing more left hooks and that will be the difference in the fight. When Cotto wins they will say Sergio is old and passed prime but the thing that they dont realize is that Sergio is still in his prime having not lost a fight since Paul beat him more than 3 years ago and also having only lost 1 fight in over 13 years.

And I'm not trolling when I say that Chavez Jr destroyed Martinez's punch resistance. I think age plus that beating that Martinez took ruined him.

I saw nothing wrong with his punch resistance. I saw something wrong with that wet ass ring, and his injured leg.

If he rehabs properly, and get back near 100%, Sergio gonna beat the breaks off of Cotto.

Remember, in the Murray fight, he was just a hair off on everything. It looked like an athlete returning after a long layoff with injuries.

He just needs to get his groove back, and have his body ready.
You thought Martinez fell from slipping? He even looked hurt while trying to get up.

Didn't you see Murray stepping on his foot? Martinez was never hurt in that fight. Sergio was actually smiling when he got back up (kinda like he did when he "went down" against Williams and Macklin).

That's not the point. The point is, its his legs that caused him to be in those bad situations.

Sergio with good legs and a non slippery ring will pop the jab on Cotto all night.

My issue is more about what Cotto will do if he can beat Maravilla, will he defend at 160? Or will the 12 year Hopkins-Trinidad Lineage just disappear when he decides to go back down to 154?

If that's the case I'd advise to retire on top feeling like a rocket. Maybe a final fight with Canelo after he gets a win.
