  • Comments Thread For: Groves: I'll Be The First Person To Stop Carl Froch!

George Groves has vowed to become the first man to stop Carl Froch in their world title clash on November 23.

Groves will attempt to rip the WBA and IBF titles from Froch's grasp in their eagerly awaited showdown at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Froch has far more top level experience than Groves, who heads into the fight as an underdog, but the challenger is confident he will upset the odds in dramatic fashion.

Groves told Sky Sports: "I'll know I'll be the first person to stop Carl Froch. He's never been stopped before. I wouldn't want to predict a round, but I'm going to hit him far too frequently, far too hard for him to take that sort of punishment for 12 rounds. [Click Here To Read More]

I kinda remember Lucian Bute saying the same thing. For Groves' sake I hope this doesn't go the same way.

Groves absolutley destroyed Froch on that Ringside interview, has really got under his skin, especially when he started talking about him going to bed at night knowing that he (Groves) knew all of his flaws and vulnerablities.

Saying that, although Groves has looked good in his last few fights against, admittedly subpar(as compared to Froch's) opposition, I watched the Groves DeGale fight a while back and he looked ****e in that.

Still and all, hope he bursts this egomaniac's balloon. Froch rides around on an almost hypnotic confidence, that steely glare, guys living in a dreamworld, but underneath he is vulnerable and I think Groves is on his way to fully exposing that.

This guy cannot be serious. What kind of power does he think he carries, if anybody is getting stopped it's Groves.

The Cobra has 1 vulnerability, and his name is Andre Ward, end of story.

Ward is light years ahead of Groves in ring smarts and boxing technique.

I don't see any game plan that Groves brings on fight night that can out do Froch.

People are really sleeping on Groves here. Granted, I feel Groves is a bit too green for this fight. But, I believe he has the talent and skill to pull off an upset.

I said nothing about skills, shtyejaws. I'm talking mindgames. Of couse Groves is no Ward, never will be, but I wouldn't write him off just yet.

My point is, today's Ringside interview showed that Groves has well and truly pulled ahead in the psychological battle, let's see what effect that has on the 'invulnerable' Froch come fightnight.

I have no problem with the confidence as long as it translates to a valiant effort in the ring. I love when fighters have this spirit and attitude heading into a fight. Same with Stevens.
